This hotel is great if you have a car which we did, I believe if you didn't have one, you would feel isolated. Ashura who works on reception was soo friendly she deserves a mention. The hotel is super hot but there is no air con, but you do have a little window you can open which can be impossible to keep open when it's windy outside

Stayed here with my family for 3 nights whilst we visited Reykjavik and other areas of Iceland by rental car. Great location, which was close to a number of amenities, such as a fuel station, supermarket and a brilliant burger restaurant. Very modern building with the added bonus of a Reebok fitness centre/ gym located right next door. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities as well as a wall mounted TV and hair dryer available in the bathroom. Lovely wet room style showers featuring two shower head types for use depending on your preference. Breakfast was included in our booking and this was available from 7am till 10am every day. The highlight for my family was the waffle maker, as our son's thoroughly enjoyed these with a range of different toppings to choose from. Only downsides in our 3 bed room was the bathroom window was missing a frosted film on the larger of two window panes, which meant you had to use the toilet and shower with the potential someone may be watching you from across the street. Fortunately we were on the fourth floor, so this did help ease our concerns a bit. In addition to this, the lighting within the room seemed quite dim at times and not sufficient for the size of the room. Maybe bright LED bulbs might help? Overall though, I would happily stay here again as the reception staff were very helpful and polite and the location suited us perfectly for our travel needs. It was also fairly close to Keflavik airport, which always helps if you're running late for your flight home! 🙂

We had a great experience for 3 nights. Location worked well for us, we didn't need to be downtown.

Great choice! Especially if you're planning to spend the whole day going to sightseeings, tours and other activities. We initially were attracted by their location and great gym that's included with the stay, but didn't even have time to go there. Staff is very nice and friendly *****

Had a great stay at Hotel Vellir. The rooms were no frills (no toiletries aside from body wash in the shower) but very clean. Front desk staff was very friendly and always helpful when we had questions. They offer free breakfast each morning from 7am-10am. I enjoyed the breakfast but if you're staying there for an extended period of time, you'd probably want to go find breakfast a few mornings to get variety.

We stayed in this hotel for a total of 3 nights on our round trip. Rooms are clean and functionally modern. Breakfast with a good basic selection, delicious bread and you could make fresh waffles.
The receptionists were the most friendly and most helpful during our stay: always in a good mood, smiling, ready for a quick chat and we would have liked to hear more about the island from the friendly guy 😁. We got good tips for restaurants and our next vacation. Furthermore we will get a breakfast to go, as we have to leave in the early morning. You will defenetely see us again at that hotel! We felt welcome.

We had a great stay! The hotel is clean and modern. The bar/restaurant was lovely and had delicious food. Breakfast was great too. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-decorated. Staff are friendly. Location is great- close to airport and Reykjavik, and the hotel has a large parking lot. Some excursions offered pickup from the hotel. Highly recommend staying at Hótel Vellir!

Stayed here twice now & will return again. The staff are extremely welcoming (especially Camilla in the sports bar). The rooms are clean, parking is ample (there is no EV charging though). A lovely place.

If you want to visit the island with a rent-a-car this is the perfect place for your stay! Smooth check-in, amazing staff, good breakfast, happy people and warm rooms are just some of the qualities of this location. The parking for cars is incredible huge and you find plenty of spaces anytime you want. People in reception were helpful and gave us lot of great advises for our trip. Rooms are cozy and the radiators can be setup to the temperature you want. Beds and pillows were a little too soft for me but it's all exceptional clean and the cleaning service is fabulous. Buffet breakfast is served from 7 to 10 and contains plenty of choices. Sports bar within the location is also a great place to have a wonderful time. From the hotel you can reach easily everything : 15 min by car the Reykjavik center, 20 min to Kef airport and 7 min to Aurora basecamp. In the proximity you'll find gym, gas station and supermarket (Bonus, 10-20). I would say even if the hotel is modestly listed at 3* it is definitely deserving more than this. All the best and a big thanks to their amazing smiling team!

This hotel was in a great location! It took around 15 minutes to drive into Reykjavik. The breakfast was pretty good. It’s the same thing every day, so I did wish there were a few different options since we stayed here 5 nights. The staff was so nice and helpful! The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean!

We stayed here for a week in March 2023 and had a wonderful experience - the staff were especially kind, informative, and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean, the hotel was quiet and we were never disturbed by anyone outside or in the hallway, the staff went above and beyond to help us rent a vehicle when we ran into some issues with the car rental companies, in addition to providing us with a plethora of local tips and recommendations. The gym, hot tub, sauna, and steam room were also a great feature. The continental breakfast was also great and had lots of variety. We highly recommend this hotel, and we would definitely stay again.

The rooms are large. Beds are seriously comfortable! The room was very warm when we arrived so just turned the radiators down slightly. You have a kettle with basic tea and coffee. It has a TV (didn't use it) no fridge, it has a hair dryer (only use if male or have a pixie cut!!) Shower is nice and powerful, it has a shampoo/conditioner dispenser but I never use hotels as never as good as real thing so couldn't comment on that. Petrol garage nearby, 30 mins from airport by car, restaurants etc 5 mins drive away if you don't want to use hotels. We didn't get to use sauna and jacuzzi etc as we mainly use hotels to sleep in and thats it. I liked the hotel, friendly staff what we saw on them. Yeah happy days.

Amazing hotel despite located slightly further out of central Reykjavik. Travelling into city centre takes 15-20mins by car. Ample of parking spaces and well lit as well.

The hotel room is clean and in immaculate condition. Heater is working effectively as well. Beds and sofas are clean. Room is spacious with ample of place to relax and watch the TV. WiFi speed is excellent

Daily room housekeeping is great with clean towels provided. Concierge and staff are very receptive and welcoming.

Customer service from Pawvel was excellent. The third party booking site we used gave us the address for the wrong hotel with a similar name. When we arrived at Hotel Vellir after a 5 hour drive to get there, Pawvel spent time on the phone with the other hotel we were meant to be at, organising a room for us so we didn't have to drive all the way back. He was extremely accomodating, helpful and kind. 5 stars purely based on his amazing service :)

Really great hotel with amazing personnel!
Me and my wife we had two nights in Hotel Vellir, we chose it initially because of a great fitness center, by the way - amazing fitness center, way beyond the normal hotel’s level, as an athlete it’s quite important for me.
But in addition to a great gym, nice and comfortable rooms.
The most notable thing for me is the personnel. All of the people were really nice there, but I want to especially mention the receptionist named: Ashura.
She is very patient and nice. She really cares about the customers, really above and beyond.
I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back on my next visit to Iceland!

We are more than happy with this hotel. The rooms are spacious (the biggest of any we've had in Europe). The staff are all wonderful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. More than just the standard cereal, there was bacon and eggs, fruit, juices, oatmeal, and much more. Coffee was delish. This would have been easily over $20 each. The location really does require you to have a car. There is a grocery store called Bonus .5 miles away plus a Thai restaurant. You would not be disappointed with this hotel when visiting Iceland's sights.
