Reykhólar HI Hostel

Excellent hostel. Ample, clean, huge common area well equipped - kitchen, living and dining rooms. Free coffee.
The owner is involved (and not absent like we've experienced all over Iceland) - and it shows.
Recommended.
The village is small, no restaurants, and the only shop is open 10-18 on weekdays.

Brand new hostel, just off the main road as you enter the village. Very clean and spacious, almost all the furnishings appear brand new, and the kitchen is well-stocked with everything you'd need. There are sinks in the private and family bedrooms, and multiple bathrooms in the hostel. Dorms are in the basement, but all the private bedrooms are on the main floor which is bright and has great views. Hosts are extremely kind and welcoming.

I highly recommend this hostel. It has lovely rooms with sinks in it, shared bathrooms (but you never have to wait for too long), a large kitchen with many spices and other things you can borrow. They even have a Free food basket where you can grab some cookies, hazelnuts and so on. The staff is friendly and they also show you a 'secret passage' to their own hot tub that you can use! :)

I am not a fan of HI Hostels, they usually treat everyone as children. This place was by far the best HI Hostel I've stayed at. Plus they have an excellent hot tub outside! Just make sure you either bring food with or hit the "grocery" store before it closes. Nothing in this small town to get food at once that place closes for the day.

Karina and Maadelie were the most amazing hostesses any one could wish for!!! Such a pity you are so far from South Africa! Thank you for a lovely stay!! Sad to leave.

Very nice small hostel located in amazing scenery. Perfect spot to stop and then go to explore westfjords. They have everything you need, even the hot tub.

They have a hot tub. 'Nuff said. To elaborate though, it's in a pristine location with great panoramas and bird life. Different types of rooms available, good facilities (kitchen was sweeeet and had free coffee) and wifi, though not the fastest, was still operable.

We stayed for one night. The place is very nice, with a 24hrs hot tub in the garden. The owners are really sweet. Definitely recommended!
