Gilan Rural Heritage Museum

The museum was utterly peaceful, elegant and cozy in the middle of the jungle. There was a cafe as well, where you can sit for a while order a fire tea and soak in the beauty of the area. the museum is vast and you should walk too much but it's worth it.

A valuable collection of architectural examples of different climates of Gilan province.
Here you can see old houses of different parts of the province. Real houses have been dismantled , and rebuilt here with original materials and architecture.Trained guides, dressed traditionally, give you information about different parts and elements of the complex.
It is unique and beautiful and I strongly recommend visiting this place.
You can spend from one hour to one day, to visit all the houses and different parts. And even multiple visits to see them in different colors of the jungle, in different seasons.
Local handicrafts and food are also available .

It have a very cheap tickets to enter and they put you in groups and each group have a tour leader that walks you through the museum which is inside a jungle that makes it even more perfect, the tour take around 1 hour to complete and you get to see many houses from all around Gilan providence that they disassembled from their origin and assembled it exactly like the original one.

Had a lovely afternoon. a great place to get to know the northern urban people's lifestyle. Also there are native women that make fresh bread on fire. so delicious.

It showed different types of culture and home based on regional.

in this museum you can find more than 20 traditional home, which are transferred to this area, showing the different types of architecture in north part of Iran. visiting this homes will take about three hours of your time.
I have attached a photo which is for 180 years ago and belongs to a Sugar merchant. this home is made in a way that is resilience against flood and Earthquake.

Great work as the best Rural Museums in Iran , there is rainy most of the time but it gets excellent , try to smell everything ,touch tall trees , yard lumbers ,leafs, little stones around little ponds :) .......also , nice guides(with traditional clothes) , it has three or four types of the real rural houses in the north of Iran with high details. good facilities like huts & arbors , toilet ...etc . there're pretty and stunning scenes so what's most important to you is taking a "Camera" .

You should consider at least 1/30 hour to visit the museum completely. A leader guid you in the way and explain about diffrent part of the museum. You can buy some kind of local bread and sweets that cook in the yard. There are some old house which gatgered from duffrenet parts of Gilan. It absolutely worth visiting

Gilan Rural Heritage Museum  is located in the heart of Saravan Forests, near Rasht City and before Fuman road, many rural houses have been gathered in the Gilan Rural Heritage Museum from the surrounding villages and they have been reconstructed here.
The feasible studies and field works for establishing a rural museum were started in 2002. including the projects of determining the location and recognizing Gilan cultural fields.
These fields can be divided into nine parts, according to the findings of these studies, based on the cultural and architectural diversity of the province and regardless of the country divisions. These fields include two main branches of the east and west each one with four coastal, plain, submontane and mountainous subcategories.
It also should be said that some places have been considered in designing this museum for resting, restaurant, mosque and bazar. Finally, the construction operations were started from 2004. and it entered the executive phase in 2005.

If you are visiting North of Iran or Gilan in particular, this place should be among your must see places. This museum shows the essence of rural life of the region in a way no book or local guide could do.

This museum is one of the best museums in Iran, very systematic and beautiful, you can find different types of the houses that belong to the different type of families that came from all various places of Gilan Providence.

Its a wonderfull place to see. It shows the herritage of Gilan with details, men and women are coking and selling traditional stuff and you are free to take photos and see inside every room odf every house. There are also guides to help you.
