রাজবংশের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা জনার্দন উপাধ্যায়। মোগল সম্রাট আকবরের অধীন সেনাবাহিনীর উচ্চপদে কাজ করতেন তিনি। পরে তিনি মহিষাদলে রাজত্ব প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন।আনুমানিক ১৮৪০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে তৈরি হয়েছিল রামবাগ রাজবাড়ী ও সঙ্গে গড়ে তুলেছিলেন রামবাগে রামজীউর মন্দির। রামবাগ রাজবাড়িতে এখনও রাজ পরিবারের সঙ্গে যুক্ত কিছু লোকজন বসবাস করেন কি না জানিনা, তবে কিছুলোকজনদের চোখে পড়লো। ঐ রাজবাড়ি যেতে গিয়ে সংস্কৃতির একটা মেলবন্ধনও দৃষ্টি এড়িয়ে যেতে পারলো না, একটা পুকুরের এক পারে পীরের আস্তানা, অন্য পারে মন্দির। এ থেকে বোঝা যায় রাজারা শিক্ষা-সংস্কৃতিতে প্রজাদের উৎসাহ দিতেন
