Absolutely beautiful North Karnataka food served by the owner himself … a really charming Mr Mallikarjuna, who filled our hearts and stomachs

We discovered this place by chance. The host served us very good tea and snacks. He surprised us with finger licking local cuisine and engaged us in interesting conversation about the place and it's history. Simple set up, yet very homely.

A simple, homely, and clean north Karnataka restaurant right opposite the Pattadakal UNESCO site. Absolutely yummy jowar roti meals at just Rs.100 per plate. The family that runs the place is very polite and welcoming and makes you feel at home while you're eating there. There are very few tables to sit at, but waiting time won't be too long if you reach at peak lunch time.

You will experience the original Jola (Jowar) Rotti at this place. The food is simply amazing! It started with Jola Rotti and ended with a nice Obattu (Poran Poli / dessert).

Great hospitality by the people who own this place (the courteousness and respect that they show towards others is something that we all need to learn from the village people). And price is reasonable as well.

If you are combining Aihole and Pattadakal in one day, then i'd definitely recommend that you have lunch here.

Along with a family, I visited Pattadakal recently. We were witnessing the beautiful Unesco World Heritage Site till the closing hours. Once we were out, we were looking for tea and snacks. Then we found 'Shri Mahakuteshwara Hotel' diagonally opposite to the Pattadakal entrance gate. They prepared tea as per our taste and we savoured the taste of mandakki as well. Since we didn't wanted to wanted to wander around much for dinner, we asked the owner Mr Mallikarjun if he can prepare dinner for us. He obliged and along with his family, prepared amazing dinner for all 9 of us. Entire family were so good. It's a small cozy place but food was amazing. Authentic North Karnataka oota.

We went there as a group of 50 people on a study tour to Pattadakal and saw the place right outside the monument. We placed our order for lunch and went for siteseeing. When we came back after an hour and a half, we were served the best meal of our Karnataka trip only for Rs 90 per person.
The ladies of Mr Basavaraja family were making hot Jowar Bhakri/ Rotis, the other family members served the salad, vegetables and rice, sambar, etc with a smile on their face. It was an excellent meal.
Best location, taste and value for money. The Basavaraja family is very humble and kind.

The most amazing home style meal.. Served with a huge smile and graciousness. Do ask for the Puran poli here.. We ate and then packed a dozen!

Anyone looking for a local cuisine experience please drop by this eatery. Your Badami trip isn’t complete without eating here. The jolda roti meals are delicious. Do not miss the sambar rice. This is one place to relish a hearty meal after you visit Pattadakal

Owner is friendly, good food at very reasonalable price.
You will get taste of local cuisine, which u cannot experience in other restaurants.
Don't expect other food like chinese or something like that, only local homemade food and snacks available.

Our driver took us to this 'Khanaval' . He was skeptical as how we would like the place. But we had insisted him to take us to a place where we get authentic local food and this place did justice to it.

Food: Amazing, local, traditional, less oily and freshly cooked in front of you.
Quantity: Sufficient.
We had 2 types of bhakari. Jawar soft version and Bajari (Green colored hard one). We ate this bajari bhakari with red mirchi (chilli) thecha spread like Pizza :)

Homely, tasty Jawar Roti meal served by an always smiling family members. Mirchi Bhajji was amazing. Shenga holige was equally good. Overall a great experience of a satisfying north Karnataka food at a roadside place.

Best thing seen is the owner was just not serving but was also keen about customer satisfaction.

A small irritating thing was he was not that fast in bringing things asked, instead he keep on talking with the people whichever table he goes.

If there is one place to eat in Pattadakal, it must be this. Food is tasty and they provide authentic North Karnataka style dishes. Must try their holige.

Very good and tasty food. There is place to sit. Rotti with three different curries. Curd, rice, rasam and butter milk available. Shenga holige very good. Must visit.
