Beautiful place. Do visit at Sunset and Sunrise. Normally very crowded but quite clean. Quite decent road to drive to Sambalpur.❤😍

Best place to visit during rainy season and in particular when the dam gates are open. Visit Revolving Gandhi Minar via Hirakud Town but do not forget to visit Jawahar Minar from Burla Power House Side and have a 30 Kms drive on the dyke upto Zero Point, the entry point for Debrigarh Sanctuary. Drive on the Dam itself is prohibited. Could not enter Debrigarh Sanctuary as was not aware of the same.

It's a nice place for picnic and you can feel the kindness ans calmness of the nature ,fresh and beautiful atmosphere. You can also go for long drive through this road .

Wonderful ride, sunset view is stunning from the dyke road. This is according to me is a Must Visit place. Hirakund dam is the longest dam in India and the Mahanadi river is life line of Orissa. Beautiful nature around.

Spreading over 743 Sq Kms Hirakud Reservoir is the biggest artificial lake in India. From Gandhi Minar & Neheru Minar the reservoir can be extensively viewed. Visitors can also visit the Power House, Nehru Park of Hirakud Dam and famous Samaleswari Temple at Sambalpur, Ghanteswari Temple and Chiplima Hudroelectric Project at Chiplima ,Leaning Temple at Dhama on River Mahanadi which are located nearby.

Hirakud is place which comes under sambalpur district odisha. It is the place where india longest dam is present on our mahanadi. Our first pri minister Dr. J Neheru inaugurated and deep stone for this dam building. It is a most famous place in India also in foreign country for their attractive natural environment wildlife sanctuary longest dam view ,Eco retreat, water sports nauka bihar zero point picnic spot and also for maa samalai , God of all Western odishian. If u visit this palace from out side odisha , then you can take train bus or flight from bhubeneswar to jharsuguda and sambalpur. From sambalpur Town hirakud dam has 20 to 25 Km so you can can take a Auto or bus to reach hirakud dam.
