The Thousand Pillar Temple, located in Warangal, Telangana, is a remarkable architectural marvel dating back to the Kakatiya dynasty. Built in the 12th century, the temple is renowned for its exquisite design and intricate carvings. Despite its name, the temple actually has around 840 pillars, each uniquely adorned. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya, the temple reflects the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the region, making it a significant historical and religious site. Actually the temple is built with pillars without any walls and it is around 600 pillars. Also there is kalyanam place which is under renovation it is around 400 pillars so it is known as 1000 pillars temple. Lord Shiva is in the temple. Happy to be here. No photographs are been allowed inside the temple also we cant even sit inside the temple. Good to be here. Staff is good but they are rude to devotees. We cant say anything to them. They are been ordered with there superiors they are doing there duty. Overall best experience. Om Namah Shivayya. 🛕🙇🏻🙇🏻

12th century's old temple of shiva alomg with the bishnu and Surjyo (Suriya). A must visit place. It is in the centre of city which also create a problem for car parking. In front of the place , small car parking is there which is always full , max capacity 25..

A narrow gali beside the temple having separate car parking for 30 cars. Overall that is not enough. Best , take a cab or auto to visit the place.

The temple is star-shaped with several shrines andlingams. There are three shrines inside the temple called the Trikutalayam, dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya. There are 1,000 pillars in the structure, but no pillar obstructs a person inany point of the temple to see the God.

This is the temple of lord Shiva and was built by the rulers of Kakatiya Dynasty. Mainly by rani rudrama devi and her grand son prataaparudra. These temples are unique because they were built by the black stone blocks and carvings on them and nothing else. On the occasion of mahashivratri one needs to wait in line for 10 to 12 hours for darshan whereas on other festivals 2 to 4 hours, restof the year no need to wait at all.

This is one of the historical places but in Jan 2024, it was under restoration and not sure til when it will be finished. Visitors are not being allowed inside. They can visit the Rudeswara Swany temple but not the historic Thousand Pillar monument.
There is no huge space for parking for heavy vehicles like buses, if you are lucky you can get. Better to go there on two wheeler or four wheeler or Taxi to avoid the parking problem if anyone is visiting on weekends, holidays or festivals as it will rush. They are charging for parking but they are unauthorised.

This great temple was built in the 12th century by Kakatiya dynasty. This shows the architectural brilliance of ancient India. The Archeological survey of India putting a tremendous effort to retain its glory.
This work of art is well connected with the city by various mode of transportation. There were lot of rush on weekdays also, specially from late afternoon.
You can come and enjoy some peaceful time with your family.

The temple is very beautiful. The thousand pillars temple shows intricate architecture and interlocking patterns. No wonder these stood the test of time. The renovation is going on so be prepared for noise. The shiva idol looks different here and are symbolic of special style of kakatiya dynasty. I loved visiting the temple. There is no entrance fee. The parking is limited (about 20 cars) on spot but there is overflow parking that can accommodate about 10 more cars. Price for overflow parking is Rs. 50. Must visit on your trip to Warangal.
