Best trekking experience and easy trek for begineers. If you're in Dharmasthala temple and you can visit this place as it's nearby.

Completely loved the trekking experience, lush greeen forests, hilly steps, and the rocky cliffs, be careful with the steps, it becomes extremely slippery when its wet and it will be difficult for climbing when you are almost near the end point! Wonder how the fort was built above the hill with so much difficulty.
This is a easy to moderate level trek, can be climbed up within 1.5 hrs , and yes depends on one’s stamina.
Register through karnataka website and also should pay 50 Rs as trekking fee to the forest office.
Carry sufficient amount of water, views from the top are stunning

One of the best trekking experiences. There are many steps, so be sure to bring water with you. The altitude is very high. The top view may not be the best, but spending time with friends is enjoyable.

The Gadaikallu fort, established in the 12th century by King Veernarasimha Bangaraja for the defense of his realm, stands approximately at a height of 1790 feet and has 1876 steps. Currently, the entry fees are 50 rupees for adults and 25 rupees for children. A secret tunnel leads from Narasimha Ghada fort to the Mysore Palace.

This is a perfect place for trekking lovers and for some adventures, it's not that difficult but definitely not easy.
More of steps we need to climb and yeah at some point steps get steeper.
Over all a brilliant trek experience indeed

Gadaikallu is a beautiful trekking place in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada District. Locals also call it as Jamalabad fort, Narasimha Ghada, Jamalagadda.

Gadayikallu is in the Kuduremukh range of the Western ghats. The peak with a height of 1700 feet offers a mind blowing panoramic view of the Kuduremukha range and the vast fertile plains of Dakshina Kannada District.

One of the best Trek i ever had, less crowd more peace. Well maintained. Thank God i dint see plastic more it was very very less... Its great if we travel and explore responsibly. Coming to the Trek it was super thrilling, more steps, need more stamina, must carry water bottle, snacks. It took 1hour30min to reach the hill top. Entry fee was 50 RS per person. This is absolutely hidden gem near dharamasthalaa.. must experience this amazing trek... The final view is everything ❤ very peaceful... It's better to trek early in the morning.... Open 6 am to 4 pm. It's just 18 km away from Dharmasthala and 8 km from Belthangdy. I must really really mention auto drivers are very much helpful there.

One of the unexplored places of Karnataka . Very difficult trekking experience and very dangerous too. Very less people movement with no proper network and you should carry water and food items as you wnt get anything along the way. It’s a min of 2km trek which takes 3 hours for youngster’s to complete the trek. If you are trekking enthusiast you should visit this place. Avoid rainy season and start early morning before sun reach it’s maximum peak try to be at the top of the hill.

Gadaikallu is also known as Narasimha gudde or jamalabad fort, located in Belthangady taluk is one of the best trekking location as it provides the trekker a wonderful climbing experience onto the hill but also exposes one the nature's boundless beauty.
It is situated 1700 feet above the sea level.
As per the history this fort was originally called as Narasimhagada, a jain ruler Narasimha jain who had initially worked for the construction of this fort. But it was Mysore ruler Tippu sultan who renamed Jamalabad fort 1794 on his way back to Sriranga Pattana after the end of Mangalore war. It was named after his mother Jamalabee. It has been said that the hill steps were constructed by French engineers according to the guidelines of Tippu. The fort then was captured by the British in 1799 during the fourth Mysore war. Inside the fort, there are 2 sweet water tanks and small springs along with many ruins of walls to recall the old age history of the fort. A small construction atop the hill is the only place to have shelter once we reach our destination. A magnificent view kuduremukh and costal region is a treat to eyes.
Very difficult trekking experience and dangerous too. While trekking it is always better to carry water and eateries as the journey badly demands it. One can trek anytime between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Early morning trek is always preferable.
There is a fee of Rs 40 to the forest check post.
There is temple near that called shree Durga Parameshwari temple, chandkur.
Very divine place and the main deity Durga Parameshwari is believed to be powerful. It is said that the temple is built in the time of vijayanagar kingdom.

It was a good trek, good enough to make u regret your decision to climb the fort in the middle of the journey. But the view of Kudremukh at the end of the trek is great. None of the google pictures do justice to the actual height and how steep the climb is. After climbing the hill, once the fort wall starts the stairs are spiral in shape, that's why one can't tell the actual no of stairs just by looking at the photos.
Since the trek is a little bit hard, do carry enough amount of water. In my opinion the best time to go is after the monsoon till Dec. During monsoons the stairs could get a little bit dangerous.
While using google map, search for Gadaikallu else the google takes u to a wrong location.

The view from the top is worth the energy you will need to spend 🙂 One of the best places to trek in Karnataka. Make sure to do a little research about best time to visit, things to carry etc before visiting the place.

This is the rarely visited spot near Dharmasthala and Kidremukha. This location is of the top of the fort, not the entrance of the place. See the other location nearby for the entrance.

The steps are built so steep near the top and is very tough to climb, but it's worth the climb. We wonder how people used to climb to this place in the beginning. The place used to be a fort, we can still see the age old canon lying abandoned on the way up. It's very sad that such a beautiful location is not receiving hardly any attention.

Best place to trek for a day. Path is very vertical and includes much laid stones steps. You'll get look the ancient remains of Fort, once used to gaurd that particular area. Path is very tiring for short trek, so do carry extra pair of clothing, enough glucose added water. Entry fee is 20 per head. The place has very less parking space.
