Built by Vijayanagar Empire in the 1300's. Captured by Hyder Ali and later was ruled by Tipu Sultan. The elephant stables have pillars with nice carvings. Behind the abandoned royal kitchen, there is an ancient grinding stone. There is also an unmarked tomb of a child. There is also an abandoned ancient inscription stone with a long inscription in Telugu.

Nice climb to the top. You may need permission to climb from the caretaker of the old bungalow at the foot of the hill. Beautiful views from the top and lots of flat Rock to relax on and a few trees offer good shade. Take your own drinking water.

Truly a hidden gems, this is a wonderful place for trek lovers. The fort has a lot of history which can be googled so will spare the repeat. Entering the fort you get to see the Rangini Mahal, you cant go inside as the rooms are locked but can take a look around. There is someone from ASI on prem for the upkeep and maintenance and are doing a good job. Not much amenities but atleast someone around. Behind Rangini mahal, there is a path leading upto a temple. The path is well laid out and not too difficult to walk.
The path to the top of the fort is well laid out for about 95% of the way with a minor hurdle here or there but not too difficult. There are 6 gates to pass and there are few building structures along the way that are still standing. At the very top, there are few building structures intact and still standing, no idea what they could have been used for. At each level you have to marvel at the plan and construction to harvest rain water. And the 360 view from the top is just something you have to experience.
The overall trek is about 8km roundtrip and will take approx 4-5 hours depending on how many breaks you want to take, fitness level and time you want to explore. But this should give you a rough estimate to plan your trip accordingly. Plan to head early and be back before noon, it does get really hot. Though steps are well laid, would suggest to avoid during rainy season as it will get slippery.
Carry atleast 2L or water or more and something to eat but dont litter, please carry back your trash. There is no designated parking spot in front of the fort, just have to park your cars along the highway. There is just 1 hotel in town, opposite to the bus stand and a small one - you have to drive slowly to notice it, else will miss it. Else Madanapalle is the next best bet to find a good place to eat. For those going from Blore, avoid the route via Kaiwara-> Chintamani -> Madanapalle as lot of construction work going on along that route (as of now).

To trek the fort u should reach early in the morning around 7 am . It's a beautiful location away from traffic and pollution and it consists of fort which is located down of the gurramkonda. Actually gurramkonda is a hill it is named like that after a man carrying a ahorse climb the hill which is impossible even for today . On the top of the hill there are walls bulit with sttones stables and some small buildings. In between the climbing of hill u will come across a temple of LAKSHMINARASIMHA SWAMY . For the people who love trekking it's must a visit location.

I went with my family, we had fun, I would recommend carrying a water bottle and some snacks to have it, Coz once you climb the hill there won't be any water facility and it would be hard if children are with you.
No need to pay for entry it is free for all to visit.
If it is sunny don't go please, coz of thirst you guys will see he'll once you reach top of the hill.

Hope you guys would have done fun 😊
Thank you
