A Must Visit. Engraved in the rocks in 3rd century BCE in our ancient languages. It has withstood natural elements for more than 2300 years. Now protected.

Needs more development and protection.

I recently visited this amazing place and was mesmerized at the extent to which this place has evolved as a tourist attraction.

Reaching this place is very easy because the roads leading to this area is in very good shape.

The space around has been cleaned and colored nicely with murals depicting various facets of our culture and tradition.

The stairs leading to the stone carvings have been also given a new look and feel.

I loved the ambience of the area.

If you are a true lover of cultural heritage you must see it. And it provides ample opportunity for hiking and trekking too for adventure seekers.

Go there once you will love the place. If you are going there make sure you go there in groups because sometimes the place may be completely secluded and you might not want to stay there for long alone.

One of the two Major Rock Edict of Mauryan King Ashoka the Great discovered in the State of Orissa. Moreover ASI has found some Neolithic Artifacts also. In mythological context it is believed to be the 'Jatugriha' where Duryadhan wanted to kill the Pandavas( Jau-Lac n Garh-Palace) in Mahabharata. Very lonely place outside a small village Pandia, difficult to find as there is no Signboard.
Need some more attention from tourism Dept for this great piece of Ancient Indian History.

The site of the Jaugada Rock Edict is situated near Bhubaneswar. It is very important for historical reconstruction of the reign of Ashoka.

Although I belong to this place. Only recently I visited this great place of historical importance. The then provincial capital of kalinga during Ashoka rule in 3rd century B.C. it is one of the major Ashokan edicts. Not very far from Berhampur city.

Its a historical monument. Local people says that is fort of kauravas. But no ruins found except a small hillock. No guide. We have to search for that ashokan inscriptions on a big boulder.

This is one heck of a place. Hair raising drive through small hamlets and mountainous twists. But really unfortunate that #GOI and #OdishaGovt are both neglecting this historic place.

The erstwhile capital of Kalinga - which came under Mauryan influence after the war - hosts the Mauryan Fort and Ashokan Rock Edicts on the bank's of River Rushikulya - forcing you to get lost in the mist of History with a myrid of what-ifs?

King Ashoka after his salvation when moving down stayed with his Buddhist Monks at this place & encrypted the sayings of Buddha on the stones. It is still there.

Not many things to see..But what it meant for is to see . Communication problem is there due to lack of people concern..Otherwise a calm and historic place . We like it.
