Sri Umananda Temple

It is a Shiva Temple located at the peacock island in the middle of the mighty river Brahmaputra. It was built by the Ahom King Gadhadhar Singha, who was a Devout Shivaite. It was known as the smallest inhabited riverine island in the world. The mountain on which the temple has been built is known as Bhasmacala. Ferry available to reach this island.
The spectacular views from here is really great. The place offers a very calm and peaceful atmosphere.

The experience is absolutely beautiful. Both the waters of brahmaputra and the temple, give you such a magical and peaceful feel.
Would not recommend to take the last slot ie: 3:30-4:30, for darshan of temple. Best would be to come little early during day. But the ride will be amazing at any time of the day.

This is such a peaceful place to visit with family. One usually can reach the temple via any water transport so the journey itself is very pleasant for the devotees and the travellers. The atmosphere is so calm. I would highly recommend everyone to visit the temple at least once, you will totally love the place.

Ticket price of ferry in Jalparee is too costly. It 200 for round trip. Try to avoid it. Go with normal boat ticket price is only 40 for round ticket.

After arriving the ghat the way towards Umananda is so fantastic we have to cover near about 100 stairs to reach the temple.

It's a smallest river island which is located in the middle of Brahmaputra River near Guwahati city . And there is a Hindu Temple ;Umananda Temple. Many people come here to worship. There is a lot of fear. Had a great time here. Must go here if you come to Guwahati.

Took a ferry from Umananda ghat, it will cost 40 RS per person up and down, after booking the tickets have to share your details with Boating and ferry authorities and then you can enter into ferry, it will take 15-20 minutes to reach peacock island, beautiful place and peaceful environment, must visit.

Awesome environment and atmosphere! Historical Hindu temple, must visit place in Guwahati. Try to go early morning. Very easy approach from ferry ghat...by ferry or machine boat.

Ancient temple.small island, good boat service, crowded for darshan.

Must visit after darshan of ma Kamakshya. Govt. and private vessels are available to go to the island in Brahmaputra River.

Very beautiful temple situated on the river island. Very few are there on river island. You have to take ferry to go there on nominal charges by govt. ferry. And same ferry will take you back
There are only limited options near temple for food and snacks as there is no electricity.

This lord Shiva temple is on the island with lush greenery 🌲🌴.There is the only way to reach there is a government or private ferry both ferry prices are different. Private ferries charge 100rs and government ferries will charge 20rs for one way journey.The perfect timing to visit in winters is my personal choice.If you want to visit Guwahati so please visit this island 🏝 temple.✨❤

An island with temple of Lord Shiva with lush green trees. Only way to reach this island is by government or private ferry. Great time to visit is after 2pm so you can enjoy the sunset while returning.

Shiva created the island for his wife Parvati's happiness and pleasure. Shiva is said to have resided here in the form of Bhayananda. According to a myth in Kalika Purana, Shiva burnt Kamadeva with his third eye on Umananda when he interrupted Shiva's deep meditation, hence its alternative name Bhasmachal (Assamese: bhasma, "ash"; and achal, "hill"; literally, "hill of ashes").

We went from Jolporee pontun Ferry service near Sukreswar Ghat, it cost Rs. 200 per person up-down! Gud first time experience! Okay for a one time visit! ✨
