Mavoor Wetlands

Its a wonderful place for evening times. A total of 57 species of
birds, belonging to 16 families were recorded from the area . Among them 17 species are
migrants. Highest number of birds was recorded in the month of January and the lowest was observed June.
Little Egret, Little Cormorant, Purple Moorhen, Purple Heron, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Indian Pond-Heron,
Little Grebe, Lesser Whistling-Duck, River Tern, Whiskered Tern, Garganey etc. were the most abundant
resident and migrant species found in the Mavoor wetlands.

Its a Nice place for time pass and photography.

One can find true beauty of nature here. Low traffic path so one can ride through the road by experiencing cool breeze from the both side of the road. Both side we can see the vegitation. If you prefer a silent ride throught the road you should defenetly visit this place. It's a short path but you will get enough experience.

Good place for spending evening leisure times. Hub for a lot of immigrant birds, lots of fishing spots with great verity of fishes.

It's a beautiful place to go. I occasionally go here in the evening. Not so crowded. Totally worth it.

Mavoor wetlands is perfect place for evening relaxation . It’s a one line road passing through field which is filled with water. It is not government property .Also be a perfect place for fishing.

This is a natural serene greeny space in Kalpally area in mavoor Kozhikode road. There is a permanent water body which ll provide a scene beauty during monsoon. This place is famous for migratory birds from different parts of world. Good place for photography and sending times.

A wonderful wetland ecosystem created due to the implementation of 'kavanakkallu regulator cum bridge' at Oorkkadav.

Earlier this area was completely paddy fields.

Extensive clay mining has been done here for the Calicut based Bricks and tiles factories, during the 1990's.

Currently the wetland is a paradise of birds (Migratory as well as the local species) and fresh water creatures.

But there are very less conservatory actions taken for the protection of this biodiversity ecosystem.

Many of the corners of this wetland ecosystem are filled by dumping concrete and rock wastes.
