Just opposite to the Tali shiva temple on the north side. This temple has a cuteness that can be felt by visiting there as everything is very well maintained and the offerings here is also done in a special manner. Morning time it is very nice to spend time by sitting after the prayers. Most of the time people will be there not so crowded though.

One of the oldest temples in Kozhikode. The founding and prosperity of Kozhikode city is closely linked with the sanctity of this ancient temple.

I have heard from my parents that my grandfather was priest in this temple...From my child hood my memory recalls that this temple in a small banyan tree compound base, that too its roots almost spread on to the temple walls inside and the idol itself was in a slightly in a slanding position..I usually go to this temple from my age 6 [1954] and temple cage was built in wooden bars with blue paint quoting and a small gate was provided to enter inside during closing time..and there will be a tug of war inside the temple when some one enter for a soora thengai offerings for the Pillayar...the childrens from neighbouring compund, few in numbers, fight with intruder for coconuts in hands and I was scared to enter when there was such a situation..this is my experience and so many of those times.,will share this as true....subsequently the Main diety Vinaayakar was replaced by a new one from brahmana samooham compound and later subramanya swamy idol also find a place with brother vinaayaka on a prashnam predict....Now the temple is managed by elected Brahmin members and large contributions will pour from devottees from outside when there are functions connected to it..like chathurthy, Aayilya pooja,bhagavathi seva.,saraswathy pooja ,shashti vritham pooja etc..Large number of devotees attend such celebration....Recently Lakshmi Kubera pooja and Sarva Vigna Hara pooja was celebrated for the pupils who is new entrance to next level classes saraswathy poojas were also performed and for this pooja around 400 students will participate each year for such occasions ..this way the Maha Ganapathys fame spread world wide in the present days situation with public co-operation.... .Ramanathan KG ..SBI Retd Chennai..photographer....
