A place which not only holds our Assamese society's historical essence, but also the tributes and sentiments of the inhabitants of Assam. A sense of joy has been imbibed into my soul and mind with positive energy after visiting Madhupur Satra. The journey to this sacred place was all worth it.

It is a very important holy place for Vaishnava. Here the Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev breathed his last. It was also the workplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev acharya and Mahapurush Madhavdev. Some part of Bhagavat were written here.
The place is serene and very calm. With the satra standing tall with four dwars, kirtan Ghar, nam Ghar and atithi nivas. There is a palm tree from acharya Sankardev's time and said to be planted by the Srimanta Sankardev and about 400 yr old. The important festival is Rashmela, the death and birth anniversary of Acharya Sankardev and Madhab dev. It is very important for Assamese Vaishnava.

Madhupur Satra is established by Assamese Vaishnavite monasteries for religious practices in 16th century during Koch kingdom. The great Bhakti Saint Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva (1449-1568 AD) and his disciple Mahapurusha Madhavadeva died here.

There is nothing to see except a Mandir which is mainly for Assamese people and a naam Ghar , but if you go there in the evening you'll feel much better. Tourists must avoid this place as their is nothing to see.

Hindu temple, situated approximately 11 km from coochbehar town.
The Vaishnava Saint Srimanta Sankardeva was born in Bordowa in Nowgong District od Assam (1449-1568) reverentially referred to as Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva all over Assam,...
A very good calm place to visit.
At the time of saraswati puja, a small rash mela happened here.
Road connection is also good, all types of vehicles can enter here.
The total area is under maintenance by Assam government
