It’s pride of the Aurangabad city. The city of gates. Aurangabad has total 52 gates referring to ancient times. Delhi gate is one of that. There are lighting’s in the evening which makes it look very good. Beside Delhi gate there are couple of tea shops. Sitting at tea shop and looking at Delhi gate give a nice small soothing time for relaxing 😎 ancient structures made of stone and still standing nicely 😊👍🏼

An icon of our glorious history. An excellent example of marvels of medieval architecture. Today where bridges and collapse within few years of their construction, the Delhi gate stands tall from past few centuries intact. Tourists must visit place...

Aurangabad is city of Gates. It is said to have 52 gates. Delhi gate is the gate which faces North towards Delhi. It is a huge gate with imposing doors. The wooden door is almost a foot thick. With 100 Elephant nails on each door. Rarely any tourists actually come in to see the gate, so you can see see the gate peacefully at leisure. Entry into the upper areas is locked. It is said to have cannons in each side. No fees to inspect the gate.
Nearby tourist place is Museum.

When Aurangzeb made Aurangabad his capital, there were 54 suburbs which were walled in the city itself, the chief of these were Begumpura and Aurangpura.

Delhi Gate:
The largest and the most stately, it was built by Aurangzeb. It is situated to the north of the city facing Delhi. It is similar to Lahore gate of Delhi’s Lal Quila (Red Fort).

Delhi is in the north direction of the city, and this gate lies at the north corner of the old Aurangabad city. The route might have been used to travel to delhi in the old days. Hence the name fits the context.
