Dayanand Anglo Vaidik Mahavidyalaya (D.A-V. College) is a college in Kanpur, India, established 1919 by Lala Diwan Chand, is the second oldest college in the city. The college is situated in Civil Lines, opposite the Green Park Stadium.[1] It is affiliated with Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University(formerly Kanpur University), formerly with the University of Agra.[2] The college is accredited by the Indian NAAC. Amit Kumar Srivastava is present principal of this college.

DAV College has contributed immensely to the Indian independence movement. The college hostel is nerve center of patriotic activities. There is also a statue of local freedom fighter and martyr Saligram Shukla in the campus. In 1928, Mahatma Gandhi visited here. Incumbent President of India Ram Nath Kovind and former Prime Minister of IndiaAtal Bihari Vajpayee are notable alumni of the college.

College is good for all streams science commerce and arts and other private courses are also available there in virendra swaroop block like BBA and BCA and bsc biotechnology extra curricular activities are good and it has also NCC block there if you are interested in NCC you must join and NSS national student scheme for two years

Courses are offered by the college are approved by CSJM University and are accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

College offers Under Graduation through B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. programs and Post-Graduation in M.A., M.Sc., and M.Com along with Research Programs (Ph.D.) in all specializations which are offered at the Master’s Level. It offers direct admission to the programs.

Students applying for any of the course must visit DAV College, Kanpur campus to get the application form.

Candidates applying in B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc. courses must have passed the 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks in qualifying exam.

Applicants to M.A., and M.Com. courses are needed to clear Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 45% marks in qualifying exam.

Admission to M.Sc. course except the specialization in Statistics is based on the common entrance exam conducted by CSJM University.

Selection of eligible candidates will be based on merit in the previous qualifying examination.

Those who are seeking admission to B.Ed. program must clear 3-years bachelor’s examination to be eligible for admission.

Admission to Ph.D. course is based on merit in Master’s or M.Phil. Degree courses followed by interview.

Admission to SC/ST/OBC candidates is offered based on the reservation rules specified by the government.

This government college is not good for doing undergraduate courses like Bsc , Bcom, BA and the reason for this is marking system of CSJMU. Thus, this college is not for the students who want to make their carrier in postgraduate and further.
