Panki Hanuman Temple or Panchmukhi Hanuman temple is a ancient temple on the outskirts of the city of Kanpur, near Panki Railway Station and is fully dedicated to Lord Hanuman.

Panki Hanuman Temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that the temple was founded by Mahant Sri Sri 1008 Purushottam Dasji Maharaj before the establishment of Kanpur city and is about four hundred years old. According to legend, Mahantji saw a rock on which Bajrang Bali could be seen while returning from Chitrakoot. He then decided to build a temple at the place and is now known as the Panki Temple.

We have visited this temple on Saturday and there is not much crowd as compared to any special occasion.
There is a proper place for parking and lot of stalls to buy prasad on the way to temple.

Although no authentic evidence regarding the history of the temple is available, yet as per the legend, the temple is about four hundred years old. The temple had been founded by Mahant Sri Sri 1008 Purushottam Dasji Maharaj. It is believed that the Hanuman temple of Panki was established before the establishment of Kanpur city. It is said that Mahantji was returning from Chitrakoot once. Then on the place where there is a Panki temple, there was a rock seen on which Bajrang Bali could be seen. Simply, he then decided to build a temple at the place. The place is now known as Panki temple.

The Lord Hanuman here in Panki is seen as a gift from the celestials. It is seen to be wondered that the appearance of the face of the Lord changes thrice a day. With the rise of Sun in the morning the face of the Lord is seen as a Bala Hanuman bright and childish. During noon the face of the Lord is seen as a youth (Brahmachari). By evening the Lord Hanuman is seen as a Mahapurush (thejasvee).

A huge crowd of pilgrims came to see the temple of Pankibut on Tuesday, on the occasion of Buddha Mangal, the massacre of the devotees took place. Special arrangements have been made for the devotees to seek blessings of the Lord Hanuman.

I'm a brahmin and my faith is strong in lord hanuman ji but the way the courtyard of the temple got broken and dirty I felt very much pain inside.

A Must visit place for all Bajrangbali bhakts. For a good and crowd free darshan, choose any day except Tue n Sat. Visit during early hours provides chance to have a Peaceful darshan.
