Thank fully not in bad shape like delhi jama masjid this mosque too should have been in much better conditions with muslim contribution but dont know why such mosques are not restored properly. Any ways in enjoyed my visit and would recommend any one visiting ahmedabad to visit this place. Prayed my isha namaz in this mosque and it was a good feeling wondering who all must have been here while this was constructed , how many people must have prayed in this mosque , this place like any other old monuments has so many stories within itself. It was nice feeling hope and pray that muslims learn to protect and maintain such monuments.

The Jama Mosque, also known as the Friday Mosque or Jumah Mosque, is located in the Bhadra area of Ahmedabad City. Built during the reign of Ahmad Shah I, the mosque showcases a fascinating architectural fusion with Hindu and Jain religions. This is particularly evident in the lotus-like carvings decorating some of its domes, reminiscent of those found on many Jain temples.

One of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Mosque boasts a prayer hall supported by 260 columns and crowned with 15 domes. Walking through the hall creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. Notably, the mosque features five mihrabs (prayer niches) corresponding to the five square bays within the main prayer hall.

Its like finding a gold in very crowded market, you enter from the small gate and experience the vast ground and rich architecture of this grand mosque. I would say that they should add some security for footwear since outside market is very crowded and mostly filled with so many beggars.

One of the most impressive mosques in the Old City of Ahmedabad. The intricate carvings and the lay out make for a monument who's grandeur and majesty are truly impressive. The scale and proportions of the building and the huge courtyard are grandiose. A superb example of how a stupendous monument has been neglected. This mosque deserves to be declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Jami Masjid is said to be one of the most beautiful mosques of the Islamic Architecture.
The stone art is simply mesmerising.
Modern day CNC machines may not be able to carve what the artists have crafted 600 years back.

It was built in the year 1424 and now maintained by the Sunni Waqf Board.

Talking about space, it can accommodate thousands of people.

One must visit to explore the beautiful architecture.

The Jama Masjid, bathed in the golden light of yesterday, wasn't just a majestic monument, it was a portal to Ahmedabad's rich past. Stepping through its massive sandstone arches, I was dwarfed by the sheer scale of its prayer hall, its 260 pillars rising like silent sentinels. Sunlight, filtering through intricate jali screens, danced on the carved stone, whispering tales of ancient devotion. In that haven of quiet contemplation, history seemed to breathe, reminding me of the city's vibrant tapestry of faith and cultural harmony. Leaving, I carried a piece of its serenity within, a silent whisper of its timeless beauty echoing in my heart.
