Located in the bustling gandhi bazaar this legendary joint never fails to impress your taste buds!
Went today for a quick evening snack. Crisp dosa and rava vada were amazing! This place definitely stands out when it comes to dosa and gives a tough competition to other newly opened joints. One thing that makes the dosa stand out is the absence of overpowering ghee and spicy red chutney, giving it natural texture and flavour.
The place had a renewed look with improved seating capacity making it more comfortable for a good dining experience.
Overall a good place to visit to satiate your hunger without compromising on the quality!

Lives up to its name and fame!!
Amazing system of queue in place. So, you go take a token as soon as you reach and then there will be a person announcing the token numbers that get to go inside, sit and eat.
However, if you really want to taste the yummy goodness of Vidyarthi Bhawan, you need PATIENCE!! Because, you will need to wait about 30-60 minutes during peak time and a weekend! Or, it's about a 15 minute wait. That's all! The wait time is being announced continuously so that everyone is on the same page.
Pro tip: If you're really hungry, you can buy some quick snacks from their take away counter and keep munching it on until your turn comes. This is helpful especially if you're with kids.

But, i really love how organised the whole system is there! And once you get inside, the service is extremely quick and the staff are really polite and come to each one of us even if they have to be continuously walking around.

The OG and one of the best places for traditional breakfast. We went quite early as its very busy and difficult to get a table without waiting. Got a table quickly as was there by 6.30am. The place as the old school charm and feel. They take your order quickly and food is served quickly too. Had the masale dose and it was amazing. The chutney is so delicious, one of the best you will get in the city. Also had the Vada with sambar and it was very nice too. The sambar had slightly more sweetness to it then desired. The kesari bhat was yumm too. Perfect to end the meal. Portion sizes are good and pricing is quite reasonable. Once the crowd starts building up outside, you will quickly given and encouraged to vacant the tables as soon as you finish.

Atmosphere - 5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Food Quality/ Presentation - 5/5
Taste - 5/5
Portion size - 4.5/5
Value for money - 5/5

It's an authentic south Indian restaurant which serves idli vada, uppitt, kesaribhat, Dosa, poori. coffee. Everything was the best. Yummy yummier yummiest. Tats the reason it's so popular in the vicinity. Usually it'll be crowded. But they have maintained very well with a token system. U may have to wait for 10-15 mins of time. It is not a luxurious restaurant but it's classy. Old patterned seating, simple steel cutlery used . Overall I loved this restaurant. Must try if u r at Bengaluru

One of the most glorified and visited eateries in Bangalore. This is my all-time favourite place to go for Masale Dose.
They have been maintaining such high standards for many decades.
The new token system gives an advantage for visitors to use their times wisely.
Thank you for maintaining the cleanliness irrespective of the volume of crowd that you get every single day.

Vidyarthi Bhavan is a Bengaluru institution, and for good reason. This vegetarian restaurant has been serving up delicious South Indian fare for over 70 years, and it's a must-try for anyone looking for an authentic and affordable meal.

From the moment you step inside, you're transported to another time and place. The restaurant is bustling with activity, with the sounds of sizzling dosas and chattering diners filling the air. The walls are adorned with photos of famous patrons, and the atmosphere is one of friendly chaos.

The menu is simple but extensive, with all the South Indian classics you could ask for. I highly recommend trying the masala dosa, which is a giant crispy crepe filled with potatoes and onions. The sambar and coconut chutney that come with it are the perfect accompaniments, and the whole dish is bursting with flavor.

I liked it so much, very good food, humble staffing, clean ambiance, the wall is filled with eminent personalities sketch.
I felt, should be more space.

Vidyarthi Bhavan in Bangalore is a true gem when it comes to delicious South Indian cuisine. I highly recommend trying their masala dosa and idli, which are simply out of this world. The dosa is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft from inside, and the masala was also very tasty. The idli, on the other hand, is soft and fluffy, making it an absolute delight to savor.

Filter Coffee was strong, aromatic. It provided a much-needed boost of energy and was the ideal accompaniment to the delectable food.

What makes Vidyarthi Bhavan even more special is its rich history. Established in 1943, this restaurant has stood the test of time and continues to attract food lovers from all walks of life. Stepping into this old-world eatery feels like taking a trip back in time, and the ambiance adds to the overall charm of the place.

The staff at Vidyarthi Bhavan is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.

Overall, Vidyarthi Bhavan is a must-visit food outlet in Bangalore, especially if you're a fan of authentic South Indian cuisine. With its tasty food, strong filter coffee, and rich history, this restaurant offers a truly memorable dining experience.

I would say, worth the hype. Everything was delicious 🤤 you have to wait for around 1/2hr for your turn but it’s worth of waiting for that time. It’s there from last 80years and they are serving from last 3 generations. Table could have been more spacious but as per the crowd you can’t really expect that to be spacious. Must visit and yes 100 times better than the overhyped Rameshwaram Cafe.

Visited on weekdays. For a single person it is quick service. Seating is congested sometimes. The atmosphere is claustrophobic. But the dosa was perfect. Don't listen to all outsiders and haters saying it is overrated. For the price it is perfectly rated. I ordered two doses. The vade with sweet sambhar was good but not extraordinary like the dose.

I liked this environment and food.
My favourite is masala dose and coffee.
Nice photo frames on walls.
During weekends better to call their number and book the table on advance.

Excellent food, though taste has changed a bit over the years, probably because the ingredients have lost their nutrition and taste. Long wait as usual, but worth the wait

You have to come here early on a Sunday to get a place soon or else you'll have to wait.

If you are coming here for the first time then you have to collect a token from the takeaway counter.

The masala dose and coffee were really good!

Crowded outside and peaceful eating inside.

They do not have many items in their menu.
But they serve proper south Indian authentic food.

You can take away and even reserve a seat in advance.

This place is a synonym for the best dosa in Bangalore. They still stand tall since 1943 when they started as a small eatery and they have kept up their standards by all means.
Places like these with a limited menu do full justice to their taste and have relied upon regular customers while alluring all the newbies from various parts of the world.

Plain butter dosa & Masala dosa - Too hot as hell from the bubbling ghee on top of the roast dosa; a bit sweet from the batter but damn crunchy on the outside, freaking soft on the inside, and with their signature chutney, this is OMG!!! This needs a GI tag!!
The potato masala along with the crispy dosa is also a must-try, UNBELIEVABLE consistency 🤩🤩

Uddina vade & Rava vade - Fluffy urad dal peppery doughnut, that sound when you bite the vada tells you how perfect the outer layer is, soft as cotton on the inside!! You could rather dunk it in their sweet sambar, soak it for a while and take it all in, WOW!!!
The latter was a bit unique and made with sooji; GOOD but medu vada is the best 😍😍

Kesari bath - Sweet sooji with pineapple chunks, raisins, cashews, and some cloves for flavors; very smooth, not too sweet, and not coarse, YUMMY!! 😘😘

Tea/Coffee - Both were frothy, strong with local flavors, refreshing, and the perfect end to the meal!!! ❤❤

At times, the waiting time for their dosas gets high but once the long-handed server comes out with all the plates in one go, every one of the tables would be served right. Never have I ever seen a table served wrong though they don't write down the orders, WOW!!

Classic yet rustic decor with commendable service; a limited menu, and great Quality: Price ratio.
They have a narrow lobby and limited seating space, yet, no one complains about the waiting time. They wait to get their seats, they wait to get their hands on dosa and only then they would attain Mukthi.

Their walls are decorated with all the celebrities who have been there and all the testimonials for this place. Still don't believe it? Better visit then, WORTH it and you won't regret it!!!
