The beautiful glittering city – Jaisalmer has loomed over us.
The cultural heritage is so amazing that words are not enough to describe its eternal beauty.

Bada Bagh, Jaisalmer, was built back in the 16th century – to build a beautiful green oasis in the desert region.

Originally, there were only a dam and a water reservoir, but successive rulers started to build memorials and chhatris.

A must visit place when in Jaisalmer because its architecture is truly beautiful.

Beautiful spot to sit down, relax, and enjoy the sandstone architecture of yester years. The oasis like lake view nearby adds to the charm of the yellow sand landscape. It's an amazing spot for photo shoots too!

This is must visit place in Jaisalmer. It's 15min (auto) distance from the main city. Awesome location for Photography. The entry fee is high. Read its info on Wikipedia or Google before going. A guide is not required until you are sure that the guide is genuine.

Beautiful historical burial site, 10 km outside Jaisalmer. Beautiful view on the city, especially at sunset. Be aware that foreigners are only allowed to travel here in a taxi and not a tuk tuk. We were stopped by the police and the driver got a very high fine.
Anyway, a very relaxed and beautiful place. Entrance fee for foreigners is 300 Rupees.

A very calm and beutiful place to visit in jasialmer. The chhatris are very beautiful and best place for photoshoot and to spend time with friends or family. Must visit if have extra time or listed in iterinary. Bada bagh is situated almost 10 to 11 km from city. There is nothing for taking guide in all tomb there is written about it. Guide will say he know photoshoot spot and many history but it is waste. Guide will ask for 650 rupees but he will come at 400 rupees bjt not worth. Please do not take guide it is a waste.

An unmaintained cenotaps
Visit these places before everything collapses
The architecture is symmetrical and good for photography
At present most of the monuments are getting weak and may fall any time
People climb anywhere on steps and pillars

Auto guys will drive here like crazy on the main road and charge a huge amount
Be careful about your journey and ask them to ride safe

Visited Nov 2023.
Came here at sunrise to avoid the crowds. Second best place in Jaisalmer, after the Jain Mandirs, for me at least. Sunset here is supposed to be great too. Getting here requires a car/auto, auto cost me Rs 600, both ways. Recommended. Ticketed, Rs 100.

Here's a more human-toned review for Bada Bagh in Jaisalmer:

"Exploring Bada Bagh in Jaisalmer was like stepping into a different world. The sprawling gardens and cenotaphs, each with its own unique architecture, make this historical site a true gem.

As I strolled through the gardens, I couldn't help but be captivated by the tranquility and the sense of history that surrounded me. The cenotaphs, dedicated to the Maharajas of Jaisalmer, are a testament to the city's rich heritage. The intricate carvings and detailed craftsmanship on these structures are a sight to behold.

The view from Bada Bagh is breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of the desert landscape that stretches out as far as the eye can see. It's the perfect spot to witness a mesmerizing desert sunset.

The quietude of Bada Bagh, with its historical significance and stunning scenery, left a lasting impression on me. It's a place where you can reflect, take in the beauty of the desert, and appreciate the architectural wonders of the past. If you're in Jaisalmer, don't miss the opportunity to visit Bada Bagh – it's an experience you won't soon forget."

Bada Bagh is a must visit place if you are in Jaisalmer. Each chhatri (cenotaph) here was built by a grandson of the total family around the time of their wedding to honor their paternal grandfather. The chhatris on the lower level are more ornate and have some Mogul influence. Dinner of these were partly destroyed in recent earthquakes, and one was hit by lightning. The chhatris on the upper level are older, simpler and reflect more traditional Hindu styling. Since these older structures were made with interlocking stone blocks (rather than the mortar used in the newer structures), they were not affected much by earthquakes. I would strongly recommend that visitors hire a guide, if only to point out great photo opportunities.
