Beautiful location and home. It's maintained so well with the authentic kerala traditional decor.. very calm and serene feeling in the home and it's very clean. Great hosts and Mrs Sunita gave us homely food taking care of my spicy needs. i enjoyed a hearty breakfast also on my birthday there . Foodies will love this place. Close to the beach also

Our recent stay at Poothali homestay was an absolute delight from start to finish! From the moment We stepped through the door, We were greeted with warmth and hospitality that truly made us feel like family.

First and foremost, I must express my heartfelt gratitude to the caretaker, Sunitha and her daughters. Their dedication to ensuring guests' comfort and satisfaction was evident in every interaction. From offering helpful tips on local attractions to ensuring that our accommodations were spotless and cozy, their attentiveness truly made our stay memorable.

Every meal was a culinary masterpiece, prepared with love and care. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the best of local cuisine.

Beyond the comfortable accommodations and delicious food, what truly sets this homestay apart is the genuine sense of hospitality. Host, Manoj went above and beyond to ensure that We had everything we needed and more.

A most unique experience, that has clearly been curated with great care and passion.

- The stay: The home is beautiful, every corner adds a little bit to the cultural exposure. A very sustainable stay, which I appreciate. The hospitality was 7 star, and the meals were phenomenal and served with love. Sunita is the host, I don't know how to return to normal life now after being spoilt by her.

- The experience: Theyyam was the main purpose of my visit. Sangeet provided a very good insight into the history and significance of every part of the ritual. Theyyam is truly otherworldly experience and if you want to learn away from the crowded Kannur Theyyams, then this should be first on your list.

Poothali is an initiative that should succeed, it's important that new standards are set in tourism and hospitality, and I'm glad someone is pushing the limit and not just conforming to existing standards.

The rooms were impeccably maintained and care was taken to ensure cleanliness and convenience. The true essence of the homestay unfolded upon ascending to the spacious first-floor area, a veritable sanctuary of tranquility.

Decorated tastefully in traditional Kerala style, this expansive space served as the heart of the property, offering a retreat where one could immerse themselves in the gentle rhythms of nature. Surrounded by lush foliage and caressed by a natural breeze, it provided an idyllic setting to unwind and rejuvenate.

Poothali homestay blends modernity with heritage in equal measure. While one can find typical amenities of a modern home, it appears the host has taken great deal of effort to source and decorate the home tastefully with beautiful art & artefacts to give a heritage look. The large and spacious open area in the first floor was favourite place for our family to bond together over yoga, games, food and general chit chatting. While we never met the owner (Manoj) in person, the care taker family, living nextdoor, lead by Sunita & her daughter Srilaksmi took good care of us during our stay and served us hearty breakfast everyday. Srilakshmi especially was proactive, crisp in her communication and generally was very helpful to make our stay comfortable.

We had nice stay getaway to Poothali home stay, least I could say is really worth it. Sunitha and staff were really courteous and taking care of all our needs. The homestay was well arranged and neat. Another highlight was the food, it was really 10/10, they used to get fresh fish with variety of options. Only gripe was that they do not have a card machine but they do accept online payments. Definitely recommend.

Recently, my husband, our doggos, and I visited Poothali Homestay with friends. We were welcomed by Laxmi and Sunita, who were very friendly and nice, and they provided us with whatever our requirements were. We are very thankful for the service they provided us. The food was local, and you could feel the love and warmth. It was a real delight. The beach is about 5-6 minutes away by car. Overall, we had a great time.

This place has been on my mind from the day I was planning North Kerela.
We visited the place for Theyyam and stayed at two different homestay as we were a big group.
The location is calm, quiet and beautiful in the lap of nature.
They have 3 rooms, 2 on the ground floor and 1 on the first floor which also works as a recreational area, dinning, bird watching and a lovely place for reading, yoga and just about anything and everything.
The host took care of each and every need and took utmost care of each and everyone.
Food is something I will never forget, Sunita has magical hands. Each and every dish was delicious.
It's a homestay so don't picture it as a hotel, it's a cozy world with a homely feeling.

We visited Poothali Homestay in Aug 2023, for 3 days with our 4 year old daughter for a short vacation. It turned out to be one of the best decisions this year. The location is beautifully placed in Kasargod - 1 hour away from the railway station. Its serene and so peaceful and most importantly felt like home within the 1st day of stay itself. The caretaker - Sunita is very caring and took care of all our needs. The owner of this place Mr. Manoj was very cooperative and helped us out whenever we needed. The room we got was slightly smaller - considering the 3 of us, but thats a small hitch we could overlook. The views from Poothali are paddy fields and coconut trees and I could just spend hours looking at them. We really enjoyed our stay there and plan to return next year again!

Great stay, amazing food, superb location, and above all, the warmest hospitality that you can ask for is what would be a summary of Poothali Homestay.

It feels like a home away from home. A quaint village setup, a nearby beach, greenery all around, and smiling faces everywhere you go, make it a place you want to go back to.
Manoj, the owner was very helpful in providing all the details, and he also was in touch regularly to make sure that everything was going smooth. He also provided us with a day-wise itinerary.

Manoj's sis, Sunitha, who manages the property, made sure that every detail was taken care of. Sunitha's kids also made sure that our son was engaged and involved. The food she prepared was lip-smackingly good with the authentic taste that you just crave for after you return back from vacation.

The hospitality is genuine and warm, the rooms were clean, there was ample parking space, the home stay has a lot of open spaces inside, hot water round the clock, help a call away, and peace and silence.

Definitely looking forward to going back there again.

The paddy field in front of this beautiful place just completed the beauty of the home. Poothali truly is a place of solace but what strikes you more is the smiles & conversations of the people who cater to you.
The rooms are well done with all necessary amenities. The towel is a souvenir for you which is something not seen anywhere else. Food is delicious and people make this place more hospitable. If you want a complete stay do indulge in the activities provided by Poothali !!

Hanna here frm Chennai.. i randomly came across this beautiful homestay and started enquiring and finally visited this place this September 2023 .. as mentioned in Instagram profile it was indeed a beautiful place , stay was calm n serene.. rooms were neat n clean..!! It was such a bliss to stay in middle of paddy fields were all u can hear is birds chirping it was a perfect get away from city life..!!
Care takare Sunitha chechi was kind ,humble and welcoming and all the Food items were top notch..!!
I shd definitely mention abt the Auto chetta Sasi who was recommended by homestay itself he was very concerned n caring and took us to all nearby places ..
Manoj chettan was coordinating with us and kept checking about our whereabouts and was very kinda and helpful.. since it was my first visit to North Kerala and I went alone with my mom I was kinda doubtful but it was a indeed a memorable trip for us and we njoyed each and every moment there..

Stayed for a night in POOTHALI HOMESTAY on Dec 23rd 2022. Loved the ambience of the place and its proximity to one of the cleanest and prettiest beaches we have been to. Rooms are small but immaculately clean and the common area on the first floor which is really beautify and spacious is where we spent any free time. Food wonderful and served with love. The surroundings give you a feel of rural life. Good bird spotting in the area too. Would recommend. Enjoyed meeting the hosts daughter Veda who had a birthday that day.

Very peaceful, aesthetic and clean property. Absolutely delicious home cooked meals. Very warm care taker. The beach is a 20-25mim walk away. Very quaint quiet location. We had a rejuvenating time.

It was really an awesome place. We stayed there from May 31st - June 2. The place was really neat. They welcomed us very well. The food provided to us was authentic kerala food. We really enjoyed the food. Now I started enjoying kerala style restaurants in Bangalore.
Happy to meet such kind of nice persons in my life. The care taker was very friendly and interaction with them was awesome. Their kids were also there helping us with places to visit and eat. The little one looks very matured when talking.
When we went we were the only one staying in the house. So the entire house is ours. Enjoyed beach in the evening.
On the whole enjoyed three days stay and did not think anything about my profession during the stay. I would recommend this place.

Poothali was a treasure among the stays we have visited so far. It's extremely clean and beautiful space. The property is Nested among beautiful trees and nature. The dining space is so beautiful, it has special connect with nature outside. Had a joy of spotting lot of birds in the property. Thanks a bunch to Manoj for making our munchkin bday a memorable one. He also helped us with identifying Theyyam performance nearby, we were blown away by the performance.
And a lovely host Sunitha, our family never experienced such a great kerela food before. Lovely spread of authentic Kerala delicacy.
Though it was a hot summer, the property was extremely pleasant stay.
There are loads to explore, will definitely visit this gem of a place again.

An amazing homely stay and the villa is a perfect blend of old traditional concepts and with modern amenities. The collection of items in this villa is spellbound.
The hosts, Sunita in particular, does ensure the guests are comfortable and the food prepared is real authentic, tasty and finger licking mallu dishes!!

During our recent trip to Kasargod, me and my family had the pleasure of staying at Poothali Homestay in Nileshwar. The homestay itself exuded a charming, ancestral ambiance that was truly captivating. With its three beautifully furnished bedrooms equipped with modern amenities and adorned with antique art pieces, we couldn't help but be in awe of the attention to detail.

One of the highlights was the first-floor balcony, designed in a traditional heritage style and featuring a spacious dining area. It was a perfect spot to relax and take in the breathtaking views. Throughout the homestay, we noticed an impressive collection of well-displayed antique items, adding a touch of history and uniqueness that is rarely found in modern homes.

Situated in the countryside near the seashore, the location of the homestay was idyllic. The lush paddy fields and swaying coconut trees created a tranquil and soothing atmosphere, providing a picturesque backdrop for our stay. But perhaps the most unforgettable experience was witnessing the stunning sunset views from the homestay. The beauty was beyond words and left us in awe.

During our stay, we were treated with South Kerala delicacies by wonderful caretaker, Sunitha, and her team of homemakers. Their hospitality was exceptional, and their genuine care made us feel truly special.

We all had an opportunity to explore their activities such as Kayaking through mangroves and Sunswt cruise. Both were beyond our imaginations. For anyone seeking an authentic activity loaded ancestral heritage experience, Poothali Homestay is the perfect destination. It offers a unique glimpse into the past while providing all the modern comforts one could ask for. Our time there felt like stepping into a cherished ancestral home, creating memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.

Poothali had been on my list for almost 6 months! It truly felt like coming home.
A beautiful homestay where every corner has been so thoughtfully designed , be it the elegant rooms or the open spaces and dining area upstairs.
My most favourite part of the house was the sitting area on the first floor. Endless conversations over cups of chai and banana chips.

The food is locally sourced and made with a lot of love . Loved the Sadhya ( hands down the best ) to the chicken curry to puttu and kadala curry

I always do a lot of research for my trip but this time i didn't ..we loved our 3 day experiences from theyam perfomance ( highlight of my trip ) to boating in the mangroves to meeting local artisans and sunset cruise over the north kerala.backwaters .

I cannot wait to go back again and spend more time..
