The mountain was named Kranteshwar because of the Kurma incarnation of Vishnu. The word Kumaon originated from this name. Here the Himalayan range up to Garhwal, Kumaon and Nepal is visible, as well as a spectacular sunrise is visible. Along with this, the Guru Gorakhnath temple is also visible.

Mountain top treak, took my 9 year-old. Awesome experience, after you reach the top, till then you are wondering if you are on the right path, just as in life.

Top view is panoramic and a must have experience. Even the locals treat you with lot of respect and dignity.

At the base of the treak there is general store owner Mr Giri, who if asked politely and paid for his service takes you in his Alto car just about 1 km from the temple and guides you as phone service is just great all throughout.

If you reach early, there is gov appointed pujari available.
