It is a historical city located on the banks of the Ganges River in the western part of the eastern state of Bihar, India. The economy here is mainly based on agriculture. This city is mainly known as a religious place. In ancient times, its name was 'Vyaghrasar'. Because at that time tigers used to reside here and there was also a very large lake, as a result of which this place was named Vyaghrasar. Buxar is a city in the Bihar state of India. Buxar is located on the banks of the Eastern Railway line, about 75 miles west of Patna and 60 miles east of Mughalsarai. It is also a commercial city. Here is a major prison of Bihar in which criminals weave cloth etc. and are engaged in other industries. The famous Battle of Buxar was fought here in 1764 between the forces of Shuja-ud-Daula and Qasim Ali Khan and the forces of the British Major Munro in which the British won. In this battle, about 2,000 soldiers of Shuja-ud-Daula and Qasim Ali Khan drowned or were killed. A big fair is held here on Kartik Purnima, in which lakhs of people gather.

It's a good station and one thing you will found different that a so big fan in waiting room when i was waiting for my train then i see a big fan in waiting room.A big covering lots of people cool air in hall.

Buxar railway station has many train for all the route. It has a waiting area for more than 💯 of people. Toilet for gents and ladies are also available. Reservation counter is also available. But you can not find ramp facilities here. It has a parking area for bike, cars and other means of transport.
