Sant Janabai was born likely in the seventh or the eighth decade of the 13th century. Sant Janabai born in gangakhed.After her mother died, her father took her to Pandharpur.
Janabai childhood Janabai worked as a maidservant in the household of Damasheti.
She was also a talented poet. Though she never had any formal schooling, she composed many high-quality religious verses of the abhang.
Some of her compositions were preserved along with those of Namdev. Authorship of about 300 abhang is traditionally attributed to Janabai.

The famous female saint Sant Janana was born here, though she spent her whole life span in Pandharpur, this place is well-known as her birth place. When she was a child she went to Pandharpur as a warkari with her parent, she missed them and lived in Pandharpur till her death.
Sant Janabai constructed many Abhangas in marathi. 'Dharila Pandhari cha chor' is well-known Abhang from her collection. She was worked as a Dasi at Saint Namdev's home.
The Warkari people not only of native place but also of Maharashtra like to sing her Abhangas.

On the banks of river Godavari, this temple marks the place where the great lady Saint janabai took her birth.
