The curzon gate is an important land mark in Burdwan town. Very beautifully designed. The Curzon gate looks very beautiful at night. Well maintained by respective authority. Very busy place. Many clothing shops, grocery stores are available there. Famous Ramprasader Lassi is next to Curzon Gate. The gate is about 1.2KM away from Bardhaman railway station.

The identity of Bardhaman. Built in 1903, by then king - Maharaja Bijoy Chand Mahatab, in honour of Governor General and Viceroy of British India - Lord Curzon's maiden visit to the city.

Post independence, it was renamed as “Bijoy Toron”

The Curzon Gate is one of the conspicuous milestone in Bardhaman city in Purba Bardhaman area in West Bengal, India. The structure was built by bricklayers from Italy. A gate for welcoming Lord Curzon, constructed long back in history, the gate stands tall at the centre of the town. One big and two small gates are there. Increasing the beauty of the town. Main market place of Purba Bardhaman, previously Burdwan is located in the surrounding area.

The day was April 2, 1904. Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of India, came to Burdwan town. On the occasion, Burdwan Raja Vijay Chand Mahtab will be conferred the title of 'Rajdhari Raja'. Prior to this, Maharajadiraj Bijaychand made a surprising decision to keep the rising arrival of the great Viceroy to be memorable. Between 1902-03, a magnificent arcade was raised as a symbol of the throne of the city of Burdwan. Established in London's Crown House, this is the name of the 'Star of India'. Although Lord Curzon was founded on the occasion of arrival, this gate got more contact with 'Curzon Gate'.

The design of the Curzon Gate was compiled by A. F. Hughes. The statue of two lions is on both sides of the arched pillar and three statues of idols on the head. These three aliens were not at first. Later they were brought from France.

After the independence, the palace was named after the victory of Maharajadiraj Bijoy Chand, in the name of 'Bijoy Parikrama'. This historic 'Bijoy Parishad' will be considered as the main symbol of Bardhaman City.
