People generally visit this place on Sunday. Looks very busy place. parking facilities available there. Formost the shoe house where u can deposit your shoes.
Nice and very quit place. Children jhulas available there, children can enjoy them. For chat loving people there are many carts for this. Many toys shop are there where you can buy cheap and good toys for your lovely kids.
Place is very clean compared to other temples i visited.
Nearby railway track there. Markanda river flows near to this

Shahbad Markanda town stands on the banks of the Markanda river which is said to be a part of the ancient Saraswati River and a tributary of the Ghaggar river. The river gets its name from Maharishi Markandeya. Several ancient ashrams of sage Markandeya can be seen on the banks of the river in the neighboring districts. The temple owes its name to sage Maharishi Markandeya who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. Markandeshwar Mahadev temple is believed to be the place where the young Markandeya worshiped Lord Shiva in order to win over his destiny. Lord Shiva defeated Yama and blessed young Markandeya with the boon of immortality. The temple is constructed out of marble stone and has an exterior arch. The presiding deity is a Shiva Linga with Lord Shiva’s idol and young Markandeya in a prayerful posture. The temple walls display scene of Lord Shiva saving the young Markandeya from Yama, the Lord of death.

This is a religious place. This is a very ancient temple of Lord Markanda, a devoted devotee of Lord Shiva. It is a wonderful confluence of the faith of Hindus.

Blessed to visit the divine place,little kid markandeshwar holding lord shivling tightly,while yamraj is their to take him away. Such a holy place providing deep message to all of us.
The scenario is out of words to narrate, beautiful temple with great wooden work. Marvelous decoration is done today.
Children park is the eye Catcher for kids. Fair outside, icecream and many kind street food will hold you their for long. Markandeshwar dariya running near by temple is showering lords blessings on all.
Best to visit on festival day or Sunday.

Parking is also available for both cars and bikes, please avoid parking on road it results into jamming.

"Prasad" is also available inside or you can take your own from your home. Now "Sweet rice" is not taken by the members, you can distribute it to the pilgrims.
You can took "Kheer" or "Mishri" or "Ghee" ,it will be taken by the members who takes care of this.

Temple is mantained very neat and clean ,all around there is marble and wood work also open garden with fountain and swings are present.

The name of the town(Shahabad Markanda) is based on the name of Maharishi(Sage) Shree Markandey ji. Every sunday people from distant lands come here to pray and also become the part of a weekly fair, The religious place is not far from Kurukshetra - The land of Mahabharata.
One can reach here by bus or by train both are equidistance(aprox 1km) from the temple. Nearest Airport is Chandigarh(80km aprox). Best time to visit Any Sunday in Mansoon as at that time the river is also full of water so you can enjoy a good view of river too.

Extremely peaceful temple. Car parking could be difficult on Sundays.

Must visit for all shiv bhakts. Serene location, beautiful well maintained temple.
