Beautiful lake with a lot of Shaluk flower. Why it was called Saheb Bandh. According to local legend/history this was commissioned British Collector Colonel Trickle in the year 1843. Was it built by jailed Indians? I am not sure if they can be called freedom fighters... for the Sepoy Mutiny was in 1857. Migratory birds come here during winter. I hear that funds have been granted to restore the lake which supplies water to the Purulia town. I saw the weeds pulled out from the pond and sent away by small trucks in Oct 2018
