Shanan Power House

I saw a few pictures from google maps regarding Shanon Power house but the location where I visited was completely different to the pictures. I asked the official is there any tourist area or family area he said no. It was just another waterfall unlike what I saw in pictures perhaps I was at the wrong location but due to the lack of time I couldn't explore properly.

Beautiful place. Nice to see the old British built turbine from the 1930's still doing duty. We didn't take any pics as we felt it would be inappropriate. The staff were kind enough to show us around. It's a brisk walk about 3 kms from Jogindernagar bus stand although there is a bus stand close to the road leading down to the power house. Apparently the toy train track (Pathankot to Jogindernagar) was built primarily to ferry materials for the construction of the power plant. Heard that there are two more power plants downhill which use the water exiting from the plant (or maybe straight from the dam). I think the dam is in Barot. Do carry some ID with you.

This is a historical place it was constructed under the Supervision of Col Condon Batye in 1922 and the infrastructure of this power house is very old and rigid we can see the amazing work of Britishers .. but for a visit we have to take permission before enter there ..

Had been there after 32 years, the colony has become almost khandhar now, but old memories relived
