I’ve been to many banks in India and other countries.sad to say the customer service here is one of the worst. I went to get my dollars exchanged to INR. It was one of the briefest and worst banking experience I’ve ever had. First of she told me she could not exchange the particular bank notes I brought but that it can be done in other states!! Never heard of such a thing, no explanation given. Secondly she needed an ID, obviously she was holding my ID- passport in her hand when asking for my ID!!! Fortunately I know people in Aizawl and I could authorize money transfer to their banks from my overseas account for me to spend in aizawl. What about other visitors and foreigners? Mizoram probably should warn foreigners to make money exchange before reaching the state. SBI needs to step up and properly train their employees on customer services. I have since heard horrible customer service stories from the locals about this bank.
