Jagat is a small village near Lake Jaisamand in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Ambika mata temple in Jagat is a centuries old temple which hardly sees any visitors. It quiet and its beautiful. The carvings and the sculptures here are almost 1000 years old and they are really intricate work of art.

we were in awe when we visited this place. It came as a surprise to us. We only had plans to visit the lake but somehow we got to know about this temple and made a quick detour. Jagat is about 45min to an hr drive from Lake Jaisamand. Route takes you through some winding roads along the villages of Rajasthan.

You should visit this place if you are around that area. You wont regret it.

Highly recommended.

Ambika Mata Mandir is a Hindu temple located in the village of Jagat, about 50 km southeast of Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan, India.[1] Ambika Devi, a form of Goddess Durga is the presiding deity of the temple. The temple, located in a cleft of rock possesses a number of inscriptions. The earliest one, dated 961 AD, refers to a repair made to it.[2] Today, the temple is preserved by the State Department of Archaeology and Museum, Rajasthan.

The temple is an early, transitional, example of the style known as Māru-Gurjara architecture.[3]

This is a little-known temple, dating back to the tenth century with images of Durga[4][5][6] and many other female divinities. Ambika, a form of the Hindu Goddess Durga, is the principal image in the shrine and worshipped as Shakti, a primeval source of energy.[7] She is associated with Durga through her lion mount and is connected to the Jains through a vision advising Vimala about building his Adinath temple at Mount Abu.

The temple is also known as the Khajuraho of Mewar.[9] There are many fine sculptures in the temple which have been excellently preserved. This pentagonal temple, enclosed by a massive rampart wall, has 17 turrets and a pagoda-like gabled roof. Exquisite details appear high on the exterior walls of the temple, above larger sculptures of gods or goddesses, with musicians,[10] dancers, and singers of the heavenly court, as well as countless beautiful women.[11] The richness and arrangement of the carving often has a curling vegetal motif. The theme is of a mountain palace, a heavenly abode of the gods. The tower is covered with intricate motifs, including clouds, and is surrounded by small shikhara towers which echo the surrounding mountain peaks. The architecture of the mountain palace, as the heavenly abode of the gods, echoes the temple which is their earthly residence.

A spectacular little architectural gem not far from Udaipur. The ornate, yet well balanced structure bears beautiful sculptures of the Goddess, as well as scenes from daily life. Definitely worth a visit.

It's an 8th century temple. The best way to reach chamunda mata temple from Udaipur is to take debari- udaisagar -sakroda- kurabad -wadi lalpura road. The one shown by google jhamar kotra is not a good route to try.

Completed in 960 CE, this is a beautifully carved temple abut 35 kilometers southeast of Udaipur. It has a square plan architecture and is dedicated to a goddess. Two important inscriptions are found here, the oldest one inside the mandapa from the 10th century. The second inscription is from 1306 CE, just before this region became a target of political conquest of Delhi Sultanate. The outside walls, the pillars, ceiling and various architectural elements show exquisite craftsmanship.

A hidden gem of India !!

Built 1000+ years ago in the Jagat village, 50 km southeast of Udaipur.
Dedicated to Ambika Devi, a form of Maa Durga, the Mandir is also called as Rajasthan’s Khajuraho.

Ambika Mata Mandir is said to be constructed in 961 AD, the period when Laxman Mandir at Khajuraho was being constructed. Please visit this holy place with your children.... they must know this place .. jai mata di 🚩

The temple complex is very beautiful and houses all the matajis one can imagine. The place is good and has a guest house. If you are visiting, don't forget to visit the bhramaji temple of Khedbrahma which is one of the only 2 Brahmaji temples in the world after pushkar.
Ambaji mata temple in Khedbramha was very good and old temple. Good temple to visit with family. Many devotees came here during weekends day.
