Feni Government College

Feni Government College is a traditional higher education institute of Feni District of Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in southeastern Bengal. It is located in the heart of Feni City.in 1918, various initiatives were taken to establish the college. In 1922, Khan Bahadur Bazlul Huq constituted a trustee board and since then the college was originally started. The member of this college birth of the first governing bodies were Khan Bahadur Abdul Aziz, Khan Saheb Maulabhi Bajlul Haque, Maulvi Abdul Khaliq, Maulvi Hasan Ali, Maulvi Abdus Sattar, Sarbaprayata Sriramani Mohan Goswami, Mahendra Kumar Ghosh, Kalicarana Nath, Shandip Roy, Sriguru Das Kor, Srikalijaya Chakraborty, Inayat Hazari, Birendra Bhattacharjee and Ambikacharan Rakkhit Roy Bahadu. The first chairman of this committee was Akramuzzaman Khan who was the sub-divisional officer of Feni and the first secretary of this committee was Maulvi Abdul Khaleq.

The dream was to get admission in Feni Government College, but fate did not help. So even though I was a student of Zainal Hazari College, I used to come here whenever I got time. Many beautiful memories are associated with this college. One in particular was when I used to wear Zainal Hazari college dress and everyone would look at me with surprised eyes and I would get a lot of laughs. 2022-2023

Its one of the best college in Bangladesh in Chattogram division. About 12000 students study here in intermediate, honours and degree courses.

Finance and land acquisition

Feni College was established in the Feni region. At that time, Tk 20,000 was raised locally in the first phase. After the Noakhali district board to 50 thousand Tk, Calcutta inmate Feni amiragamora overload Candricarana Saha gave the 4 thousand Tk, District overload Kumar Arun Chandra Singh Bahadur, gave two thousand Tk, Sattendra Chandra Ghosh 1 thousand Tk, Lakshmipur Sahesta the landlord Pyarilala Roy Chowdhury passed the five hundred Tk, Chandra Kumar Chowdhury, the zamindar family of Banspara family of Feni gave 1 thousand taka. Old Harjari house of Feni donated some land and money. The college's activities started at the annual gift of Feni High School (Tk. Later, some of the khas lands and private land surrounding the college were included in the donation and purchase sources. The current college size is 9.25 acres (6.5 acres in Feni mound, 3 acres in Faleshwar Mouza). The journey of this college started with a college building, a Hindu and a Muslim hostel on both sides of the pond. Since its inception, the college is free from all financial problems of student support and student wages. On 10 August 1926 the then British India, His Excellency the Governor, Sir Hugh, who stiphenasana Lansdowne CI, SI CS College, was inaugurated two-storey main building.

Best college in Feni town

The journey of Feni College started in 1922 with a few students. Now about 22,000 students are studying in this institution. The college was nationalized in 1969. At present there are 64 teachers in the college. Teacher-student ratio is 1: 344. Of course, there are also some guest teachers. At present, Honors in 15 subjects, Masters first episode in 10 subjects and Masters final episode in 9 subjects are running. Apart from this, there is also the last episode of private degree and masters.

When the college was established, it was the only institution of higher learning in greater Noakhali (Feni, Noakhali and Laxmipur districts). Interestingly, another college has been born from Feni Government College. When World War II broke out in 1939, British troops took up position at Feni College. Then for a few years the college was shifted to Brahmanbaria under the name 'Feni College'. At the end of the war the college returned to Feni. Then Brahmanbaria College was established on that infrastructure.

Just no more no more

Teachers and students said, the teacher crisis is strong here. According to the report of the Enam Committee, there are 152 posts of teachers in the college. 12 teachers are required for each subject of Honors and Masters. At present there are no more than four teachers in most subjects. Meanwhile, the crisis in the classroom is also a big obstacle for the students. Only two classrooms for each department. So teaching all the years is not possible at the same time. In addition, students' 'regular classes' are often closed throughout the year due to PSC, JSC, SSC, HSC, Degree, Honors, Masters and private examinations.

As there is no science building, the activities of science department are carried out in Kala Bhaban. No central library. Although there is a library in the very old and abandoned building of the college, it does not take up space. Many books have already been destroyed due to rains. There are no transportation facilities for students. The only dormitory can accommodate only 100 people, which is also about two kilometers away from the college. The two one-storey dormitories on the college premises and the principal's residence have been abandoned for a long time. There is no dormitory for teachers.
