The 108 Shiva temples in Bardhaman (formerly known as Burdwan) are a remarkable architectural and religious ensemble located in the Indian state of West Bengal. Constructed during the 17th century by King Raja Bijoy Chand, these temples form a unique cluster dedicated to Lord Shiva. Each temple is relatively small, with simple yet elegant designs, adorned with terracotta panels depicting various scenes from Hindu mythology, daily life, and social customs of that era.

The temples are arranged in two concentric circles, with the larger outer circle consisting of 74 temples and the smaller inner circle comprising 34 temples. The central temple, known as the 'Nandadulal Temple,' stands as the focal point of the entire complex. This architectural marvel showcases the rich heritage and cultural significance of Bengal.

Over the centuries, the 108 Shiva temples have become a pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction, drawing visitors from far and wide to admire their beauty and religious significance. Despite facing neglect and decay at various points in history, efforts have been made to preserve and restore these temples, ensuring that future generations can continue to marvel at their splendor and spiritual resonance.

The temple is designed resembling the Rudrakshya necklace consisting of 108 beads. The temples were in a crumbling stage until it was rebuilt by the Birla Jana Kalyan Trust in 1965. There is an entry fee of INR 2. There is ample car parking space for 10 cars and bikes. Parking charge for car is INR 20. There is a pond in the middle of the premises. There is peace and tranquility in the premises which is visually marred by boys and girls taking selfies.

I am Rudra Saha an eleven year old, on my recent trip to burdwan in December I had visited the 108 shiv mandir.

The location is easily reachable by the route provided by Google and there is a huge paid parking lot just in front of the temple. There are 108 small Shiv temples and each of them have a shiv langa inside it. We have to open our shoes before entering the mandir and have to see the temples barefoot. The thing that I like most about this temple is that we can walk around the huge campus and see all 108 perfectly identical Shiv Mandirs. This is a must visit place if you are crossing Burdwan on your way or planning to stay there .

It is number 1 temples of Brdhaman, because There is no need to fall into the cycle of any kind of broker.Besides, no money will be required to enter this temple, now if anyone wants to donate, they can do so.
So I would recommend to visit Shiv Tagore at least once at the end of the week.
Thank you 🙂💝

It's a clean place. You need to keep your shoes and possibly bags at the counter for a nominal rate. The ticket to enter costs some 2 rupees. You can buy puja stuff for 51, 101 and 201 rupees and the priest will do your puja for you. The place is calm, organised and very peaceful. There's parking space and canteen available. It's an old place, with 108 mandirs inside the premise, they all look same and are in a row. Very scenic. The place shuts down at around 7 pm.
