It is best place to explore surrounding area, as the fort is located at a top of hill.
Fort is in good condition, owing the govt imitatives.
It has a Bhairavnath mandir in Balekilla.
It has a around 10 plus bastion.
It takes a hr almost to explore the place

Bharatgad Fort is a Hill fort located in Masure village. This fort is located on the southern bank of Gad river or Kalaval creek. The fort is spread over an area of 4-5 acres and covered with Mango trees. Please keep water bottles with you because there is no facility of drinking water at base and in fort as well.

Fort Bharatgad is located in Masure village on the highest hill of the village. There are settlements of people around the fort. There are many narrow paths leading to the fort. One wide path which can fit a vehicle, leads from the Medawadi to the fort entrance.
There is a Dev Siddhanath temple located inside the fort. There is a well which is considered 225 feet deep and a secret passage which leads you at a safe distance in case of an external threat.

From google maps, you can see only green cover! So that indicates what greenery it has!

It is full of Alphonso mango trees. These are owned by some private party. However no restrictions on entry to fort!

When we visited, renovation work was going on.

After a climb of hardly 10 minutes, you can reach main entrance. It's fortification wall was intact and inside some structures were damaged.

Renovated temple offers a good place to rest.
For renovation, they were using red stones hence it was not looking odd.

In short, small but very beautiful fort.

A historical place from the days of King Shivaji. This fort was built in Seventeenth century. There are loads of well maintained (and well protected) mango trees on the fort. You get a very scenic view of Masure village and Gad river from the top. There is a shiva temple and a water well on this fort.

Bharatgad rests on the south shore of Kalavali creek in Masure village of Malvan taluka and has an area of about 5 to 6 acres. As the fort is now home to private Mango plantations the structures are well maintained and the citadel and bastions are still intact.

In 1670, Shivaji Maharaj surveyed the hill but could not fortify it due to non availability of water. Later, fearing the disputes with the Chief of Kolhapur named Bavdekar, in 1680 the Phond Savants cut a well 228 ft deep in the rock which gave them access to water and thus fortified the fort later in 1701.

Masure is base vilaage of Bhagawantgad . Malvan is nearest city to Masure is 16 kms and regular autorickshaws and bus services are available. Stairs built opposite to the collector office next to the mosque takes us to the fort within 5 minutes.
