SHAKTIPEETH OF GODDESS SATI

I visited this temple in the late morning at 11 AM on Wednesday. During Navrati and other festive days it is immensely crowded and one has to wait for hours for the Darshan .This temple is situated in the Alopibagh at the road leading to Triveni Sangam.

It is one of the 18 sakhthi Peethas. There is no idol inside temple. only a swing is there. Locally it is called as Alopi devi temple.

Here last part of the body , the finger of Goddess Sati fell down ,after the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu cut it. The finger of the Goddess Sati fell at this place and disappeared immediately into a pit.

In the Main Temple of devi there is a cradle only, no idol of devi. All devotee touch the cradle and feel blessed. While doing the prikrama shiv temple, hanmanji idol and nav durga idol can be seen in temple premises.

Nice place and different kind of temple.
Must see. Thank you 🙂

A beautifully built temple, it is one of the 51 shaktipeeths, and it is believed that left hand of mata fell here.
Overall, temple is clean and very peaceful, there is also a market sort of place built inside the temple premises where you can get all the items of Suhaag.
When we visited there was not much crowd and we had amazing darshan.

Alopi Sankari Devi Shakti Peeth Mandir is one of 18 Shakti Peeth of Bharat, also known as Alopi Devi Mandir and is situated 5.5 km from Prayagraj Junction Railway Station and 16.5 km from Prayagraj Airport and is situated close to the holy Triveni Sangam, confluence of three holy rivers Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna and Maa Saraswati.

It is believed that when Bhagavan Shiv ji travelled through the cosmos with the remains of Maa Sati, Bhagavan Vishnu, unable to bear Bhagavan Shiv ji's agony, released his Surdarshana Chakra resulting in Maa Sati's body parts falling in 18 different kshetra thus giving initiation to the 18 Shakti Peeths, the last organs being fingers of Maa Sati is believed to have fallen in Prayag and is since worshipped as one of powerful Shakti Peeth. Since the last of Maa Sati's organs are said to have disappeared as soon as it came in contact with the earth, it came to be known as Alopi. The diety that is worshipped here is in the form of a cradle with Maa Madhaveshwari Shakti being enshrined here.

Women devotees offer Flowers, Sindoor and bangles and cloth called as Chunri to the Devi for long life and fortune.

Mandir is beautiful, ancient and has small inner mandirs dedicated to Nava Durga manifested in the nava avatar and exudes such beauty and charm that one feels like visiting the Mandir again

Alopi Devi Mandir is a temple situated in Alopibagh in Prayagraj in state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is near to the holy Sangam, or confluence, where the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and the legendary Sarasvati meet. Kumbh Mela is near to this place.
As per some historical evidences, the Maratha warrior Shreenath Mahadji Shinde had developed the Sangam place during his stay at Prayagraj in 1771–1772.

Later in 1800s, Maharani Baizabai Scindia has done some works for renovation of Sangam ghats and temples at Prayagraj.

It is one of the शक्ति पीठ (Shakti Peeth) temples. The peaceful ambiance of the temple allowed me to reconnect and re-energize with the presence of the divine. Accessibility to the temple is quite convenient, whether you choose to travel by public transport or cab. If you're seeking a tranquil space to rejuvenate your spirit and connect with the divine, this temple is a wonderful choice.

Alopi Devi Temple, nestled in the heart of Prayagraj, is a haven of divine tranquility and spiritual resonance. Steeped in mythology and reverence, this sacred shaakt kshetra captivates the soul with its profound aura. This temple is one of the 51 important Shaktipeeths in Bharat.

Unlike conventional temples, here lies a unique shrine where the goddess is revered not in the form of an idol, but as a sacred cradle. The worship of the goddess in the form of a cradle is a symbol of maternal love and protection, invoking feelings of comfort and security in the hearts of devotees.

As one traverses the temple precincts, a sense of awe envelops the spirit, resonating with the cosmic energy that permeates the sacred space. The sanctum sanctorum, adorned with the divine presence of Goddess Alopi, evokes profound reverence and devotion.

The temple's ambiance is imbued with the fragrance of incense and the resonance of hymns, creating an atmosphere conducive to introspection and spiritual communion. The devout staff embody the ethos of service and hospitality, ensuring a memorable and reverential pilgrimage experience.

Car parking is tough as the temple is located amidst a chaotic, busy area of Prayagraj.

Place is good. Not much crowd when I went. I spent like 2 hours there sitting under the tree. Guides keep explaining the painting of Shiva and Parvati on wall, shoes and chappal are easily lost- give 10/- or buy something from that phoolwala. You can’t touch the swing of Murthi, newly wedded couples are more often seen. I would prefer to go and pray instead of offerings like saree and basket of flowers.

A very devotional place. The location is good and easily reachable. Parking is also available.

This temple is peculiar in that there is no statue of any deity in this temple, rather, there is a wooden carriage or 'doli' which is worshipped. The origin of the name, Alopi (disappeared) Bagh lies in the Hindu belief that after the death of his wife Sati, the grieving Shiva travelled through skies with her dead body. Vishnu, to relieve him from this agony, threw his Chakra at the corpse, resulting in the fall of various parts of the body at various places in India, which were sanctified by the touch of the Goddess' body parts and hence were thereby deemed holy places for pilgrimage. The last part fell at this location thereby named as "Alopi" (where disappearance was concluded)and the holiest of all. However, this claim is debatable since there is only one Shakti peeth in Prayagraj which is Lalita Devi temple where fingers of Sati are supposed to have fallen

Always favourite place to visit. A famous pilgrimage destination in Prayagraj. Devi idol is not there. It is a Shaktipeeth where devi organ fell and disappeared. Devi is worshipped in the form of Swing, Jhula.

Divine

Absolutely mesmerizing temple.

Outside parking is a chaos. Timings are post 6pm. Maintenance of the temple feels lacking.

So much potential to make it one of the highlights of Prayagraj.

This is the temple of our lord Shiva and goddess sati....When Sati died, Lord Shiva roamed the whole universe carrying her body. He was in great sorrow. No one was able to pacify him. Then all the gods together went to Lord Vishnu and Lord Vishnu cut the body of Mata Sati into 51 pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra. Shaktipeeth is established wherever those pieces fell. Alop Shankari Shaktipeeth is also one of them. Mother's palm had fallen here. Very beautiful and calm place. And because of being a Shaktipeeth, it is highly worshipable.
