Mangal Pandey Park

Mangal Pandey was an Indian soldier who played a key part in the events immediately preceding the outbreak of the Indian rebellion of 1857. He was a sepoy (infantryman) in the 34th Bengal Native Infantry (BNI) regiment of the British East India Company. In 1984, the Indian government issued a postage stamp to remember him. His life and actions have also been portrayed in several cinematic productions. The personal motivation behind Mangal Pandey's behaviour remains confused. During the incident itself he shouted to other sepoys: "come out – the Europeans are here"; "from biting these cartridges we shall become infidels" and "you sent me out here, why don't you follow me". At his court-martial, he stated that he had been taking bhang and opium, and was not conscious of his actions on 29 March.

It's an amazing place to visit with family . We love sitting beside the river side . There's a shiv mandir which means a lot to me , they do Ganga Aarti every Monday which is amazing . We love the boat ( NOUKA ) ride too .

An amazing place to be at. Got my first chance of viewing the force of water. We call it 'baan' in Bengali. We were suddenly given warning by a screaming local man. I was wondering why was he asking us to leave the Ghat asap. Looking at his pointed finger I could see the dashing waves at a distance. But within a couple of minutes it was a couple of meters away from our spot. I almost screamed in terror looking for my daughter....God bless that man! May he live a happy and healthy life for saving our lives.

Excellent View highly recommended, you get a newly open restaurant called Rasoi King, A part of West Wing Restaurant & Boutique beside the park. You love the place the way they place all the things inside. Tea ☕ was affordable 10₹ , place is well clear and hygiene, food was delicious. Good place to hangout with friends and family.A nice place. The park beside it is well maintained and the scenic beauty is intensified after a little rain. It has a couple friendly environment. If you're walking from the main road to reach the ghat, you can see the well maintained barrack areas and the greenery.... have a good day!

A historical place of significance. Mangal Pandey garden is not the actual spot where the revolutionary was hanged, but still historically important as the river banks are in close proximity to everything he held importance. I could almost feel a "Halla Bol" sound near Mangal's bust (just kidding). Kudos to the Indian army for maintaining this place so well.

The park had everything I was looking for on a weekend trip, the feel of the Ganges moving to and fro, the wind playing with your hairs is something so plentiful. I was imagining that this was the very place where Mangal Pandey shot a British Officer sparking the First War of Independence, such a bliss to connect with the history. If you're trying to visit with your family go ahead because the area is under the Army Cantonment Board so you won't see wacky couples making out every here and there.
Also if you would like to try out some delicacies, Rasoi King is right here, the food provided was delicious and fulfilling.

Lovely area located in Barakpore, near Ganga Ghat. Entry fees is 50 Rs per person. Peaceful place.

A good place for adults for passing time...
Children can play and have fun here.. There are rides as well as a beautiful scenery of Ganga River flowing by the park side..
Worried about couples, don't think abt it.. Couples are everywhere there.. There is also restaurant inside the park. Restrooms available.. The area is dog-friendly as well.
All in all it is a great place for adults to pass their time and children to have fun.

The park is good for couples not for kids, with Rasoi King Restaurant inside it. One Shiva Temple is also there inside the park. Opens at 7am & closes at 5pm & Restaurant closes at 8pm.

Mangal Pandey Park, Barrackpore is such an amazing place with the sacred Ganges flowing by. Beautiful scenic beauty, evening there is ganga arati done here. There's a park at the right for children/couples to spend some time here. Clean environment . Overall it was an amazing evening. It's walking distance from Army school at barrackpore.

Very nice place for casual as well as family hangouts. The place has been cleaned and tidied up as per the Ganga action plan. Infrastructure and food nicely made.

Another attraction to this place is the Boat ride.
It costs Rs.300/hour.

There is a minimum amount of 10 Rupees entry fee, but its nothing for this beautiful place. There are few Restaurants available there. You can enjoy 2-3 hours easily here. Thank you ❤

One of the best dating or family place in barrackpore. Ganga view with mind blowing natural air. And the best thing is it’s night ambience.

One of the best hangout zones in Barrackpore. Recently a restaurant has come up inside the park, it's a riverview restaurant, which is its USP. Food is decent, moderately priced but best thing is the seating.

Nice park besides the Ganges. It has a good restaurant. We felt great, sitting by the river, enjoying coffee. Nice place to hang out.

Parent should beware because under some trees, behind some bushes there are always some couple trying to do Naughty stuffs.
