Vivekananda College, established in 1950 as Barisha College, is an undergraduate college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.

In June 1956, Vivekananda College was sponsored by the State Government and upgraded to Degree College status, and renamed to Vivekananda College, in honour of Swami Vivekananda.

Due to a lack of space, the college moved from Barisha in 1959 to Thakurpukur, with the previous site being used for the women's section Vivekananda College for Women.

It is an old college of the area. Recently started post graduate studies in History and Bengali too. Free from student unrest, good laboratory, library and excellent teaching staff. Also has a big playground and a bank in the premises.

I don't know what is class time for commerce student anyway good collage

Best college and particularly department of biochemistry lab attendant is Best. I will never forgot the help which we received in our practical exam.

It is one of the best Colleges for Masters in History as well as for Science in Kolkata with best faculties.All the teachers are friendly.The education system is superb.They gives students a lot of support so that they donot need tution teacher.There is no politics in this College.I love this College a lot.

One of the best government colleges in South Kolkata. Located beside Thakurpukur Police Station, the college campus is just huge. It has also been certified the number 1 college by NAAC, in the year 2016. There are options for BSc honors and general, BCom hons and general and BA.

I had studied my 1st year of Bsc in CS from this college. This college got 1st ranked in science section in kolkata 2015 and 16. Professors are good in teaching, and frankly behavior with students. College has a big playground. They organise many games for college student. Its locate at jst 1min distance from thakurpukur bazar bus stand.
