Adi Badri is a cluster of ancient temples in Uttarakhand, India. These temples hold historical and religious significance. Reviews of Adi Badri Temple are generally positive, especially from those interested in history and architecture. Visitors appreciate the serene and remote location, which provides a peaceful atmosphere for meditation and prayer. The temples are known for their exquisite stone carvings and unique architecture. However, as it's not as well-known or easily accessible as some other temples in the region, it might not be as crowded as more famous destinations. If you're interested in exploring off-the-beaten-path temples and have an appreciation for ancient architecture, Adi Badri can be a worthwhile visit.

This ancient Adi Badri temple located 17 KM from Karnprayag towards Ranikhet on Karnprayag Ranikhet road near the confluence of Pindari River and Alaknanda river. It’s one of the well know Panch Badri temples.
This is oldest form of Badrinath/ Vishnu bhagwan dham, in case you can’t visit current Badrinath you can have darshan here, it’s less crowded, peaceful and a archeologist site managed by ASI.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu used to stay here in Satyug Dwapar and Treta Yuga and at the time of Kaliyuga He shifted to Badrinath dham.
It is believed that ShrimadBhagvad Puran has been written over here by Maharshi Shri Vedavvyas ji.
This temple is closed in hard winters.

Jai Shri Narayan Ji…
As per pandit ji at temple this is the first Badri and then other Badri came up Ito the picture. Here Shri Narayanji did Tapasya at standing position by closing his eyes same we can see the statue of Shri Narayan in the temple.
While entering the temple we first found Shivji Temple then Ram Sita Laxman, Ganeshji, Annapurna ji, Garun, Hanuman ji etc. The stones are very old and it seems to be more than 1000 yrs.
Blessed to be here…. 🙏🏻

The significance of the temple is that whenever Badrinath temple remains closed due to extremities in weather, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in Adi Badri temple. Moreover, the sanctum of the temple has an image of Lord Vishnu which is 1 meter high and has been carved out of black stone.

The complex of the temple consists of the area of 14-meter x 30 meters. The height of the temples varies from 2 meters. to 6 meters. The main temple is of Lord Vishnu, which is raised on a platform.  The Vishnu idol is 1 m, tall black stone, which depicts Lord Vishnu holding a mace, lotus, and chakra.

Nice temple from really old time. It's the temple where the Badrinath dham gods are worshipped when the main temple closes. Its situated on the highway road itself so really easy to access.. there are some houses made nearby that don't do justice to preserve the premises.
