With improved infrastructure and facilities, Bojjanna Konda could become a more accessible and attractive tourist destination. Adequate signage, guided tours, and information centers would enhance the visitor experience, making it more educational and engaging.

Investments in infrastructure such as better roads and transportation links would encourage more tourists to visit and explore this site. Additionally, the development of nearby amenities like hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops would create opportunities for local employment and boost the local economy.

Peaceful place one can find. These caves hints, that if someone needs Peace in life, then he must have alone for a while. Felt strange to see that huge rock has made like caves. Can't imagine how that has been made.

Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda are two Buddhist sites which exist on adjacent hillocks, located at about 45 km from Vishakhapatnam and just a few kilometers from Anekapalle. Of the two hills, the one on the east is called Bojjannakonda and the other on the west is called Lingalakonda. Both the hills contain numerous monolithic stupas, rock-cut caves, chaityas and monasteries forming one of the most remarkable Buddhist establishments in Andhra Pradesh. In Bojjannakonda, there are rock-cut caves in which there are idols of Buddha and attendants. There are Chaitya Grihas present towards North of the Maha Stupa.
The scenic view from the top is marvellous. One can sit and meditate over there. The place is not accessible to wheel-chair. Entry is free. Rest rooms are available.

There is a winding road branching off National Highway 16 near Anakapalle that leads to the twin Buddhist sites of Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda, built between the 4th and 9th centuries. Perched on adjacent hilltops, the broken pillars, and the remnants of walls and doorways are fringed by paddy fields. There is only a small sign that points you in their direction through a road full of pot holes.

The path is just a preview of what awaits the visitor. The site is in a shambles. Statues are defaced, there is graffiti on the walls of the caves, and everywhere one turns, the disrespect for heritage and hallowed buildings is evident in the scrawls on the walls and the vandalised statues. Still, these sites receive hundreds of tourists, not just locally, but also from elsewhere in the country and abroad.

These sites are among the most important Buddhist sites in South Asia, as they feature elements from three schools of Buddhism, namely Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana. This is evident from the different styles of sculpture and inscriptions,” explains Jayashree Hatangadi, a chronicler who conducts heritage walks here.

Bojjana Konda, Vishakapatnam

At a distance of 54 KMs, this is one of the lesser known weekend destination from Vizag. There are two routes, first and shortest one is from NH16 to Simhachalam road and then on Chennai Srikakulum highway. Chennai Srikakulum highway is in a pathetic condition and dusty, avoid this route.
Second is to take NH 16 towards airport and then take Chennai Srikakulum highway for a km, use Maps for this diversion, good road and faster.

There are no places nearby Bojjana Konda for refreshments, carry food

There's ample parking place and washrooms too

Serene and calm place, with some historical touch. Take food with you, no plastic allowed. Elders may avoid as it is difficult to climb top of the hill.

Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda - Sankaram Village, near Anakapalli.

Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda are two Buddhist sites which exist on adjacent hillocks near a village called Sankaram. It is located at about 50 km from Vishakhapatnam and just a few kilometers from Anakapalle. The sites are believed to date between 4th and 9th Century A.D, that was when at Sanakaram (Sangharam as it was called then) when the 3 phases of Buddhism (Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana) flourished.

Sankaram, a small village, is situated about a mile to the east of Anakapalli in the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. Within a short distance to the north of the village are two hills, one on the east called Bojjannakonda and the other on the west called Lingalakonda both surrounded by paddy fields. Both the hills contain numerous monolithic stupas, rock-cut caves, chaityas and monasteries forming one of the most remarkable Buddhist establishments in Andhra Pradesh during the period of 4th to 9th Century CE. The name of the village Sankaram is evidently a corruption of Sangharama(Boudha-arama) as these Buddhist establishments are generally known.
