Gandhi Smruti

Gandhi smruti in Bhavnagar was opened in 1955. Foundation stone was put up by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 15/01/1948. Generous donation of 5,00,000/- ( 5 lacs) by the Bhavnagar State was declared.

Bapu's memory of stay at Bhavnagar during their university study hence, Gandhi smruti is a living monuments of bapu for Bhavnagar.

It has Gandhi picture gallery- rare photos of mahatma Gandhi from birth to death, Khadi Gramodhyoga Bhandar - a big departmental store for khadi clothes and khadi cloth, well organised library, a small museum of ancient items, etc.

Gandhi smruti complex is attached with clock tower in heart of the city. Tower bells with music on all four sides during timings.

At Gandhi smruti circle eight roads crosses.

Prime minister of India Pt. Javaharlal Nehru inaugurated 'Gnadhi smurti' complex on 01/11/1955.

Historical Place with Meusium that Contains many historical items. Must visit one time who are interested in History.

Very good place to buy gift items for those who are residing outside gujarat... Of course, seasonal eatable items are also worth like saani, khakra, etc... Timing of the shop is 10am to 10pm

During winter they make Saani (sweet dish made of seasme seeds and jaggery) which is a part of healthy diet during winter.

The largest library in Bhavnagar museum is now renamed as Barton museum where Gandhiji's life very well described and also there is gun with which mahatma was Martyred.

Gandhi Smruti is a childhood time attraction for me. There is a museum of items belonged to Mahatma Gandhiji. Also, the place is dedicated to Khadi and self reliant movement initiated by him.

Public museum, best museum in the city. You will get to know a lot about life of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Also, there is good display of kings time weapons and attire and ornaments. Very informative.

About The Location: The memorial built in remembrance of the Father of the Nation commences varied activities. The ground floor housing the Barton museum is a repertoire of archeological remains from the surrounding regions. The Gandhi museum on the first floor takes one on a dramatic journey through the life of the Mahatma.

A museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, this is the site where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30th January 1948. The 12-bedroom house was built in 1928 by Ghanshyamdas Birla. Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi were frequent guests of the Birlas.

A monument dedicated on the name of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. This monument comprises a big library, museum, hand made cotton shop and more handicraft things along with a reasonable rate glossary store.

It has some of the awesome collection of books n literature.. I like this place because it really very close to my husband's childhood. Today also when we go people there know all of our family..

Very good place.Contains history in its building. Mahatma Gandhi was studied in Bhavnagar. And here you can catch some real documents and things about gandhiji. Big hall contains too many photographs abut gandhiji's life.Must visit if you are visiting Bhavnagar.

Good place to visit in bhavnagar. You can see old memorable things, you can purchase original khadi here and many more things. Chikis and sani are good in taste here in winter season.

I had panipuri over here it's"Santosh panipuri" and I really loved the way they serve and the way they kept everything arranged in a proper manner. And their hygiene is also very good
