The place has a very eerie feeling in the atmosphere, you will feel it immediately you enter the premise, but that is because of the history of this place, obviously. Otherwise a beautiful place surrounded by beautiful greenery.

PS. People are not very friendly so avoid any unnecessary conversation, just stick to business.

I was very excited to visit this shaktipeeth where left thigh of Sati Mata fell ages ago and it was the temple where the Jayantiya kings used to worship the cosmic mother. I loved visiting here and meditated here too for a few minutes which was a great experience. The place has great vibration. But sadly, it is not maintained at all like any other Shaktipeeth. I have visited many many Shaktipeeth over the years and this one has the least maintenance and infrastructure upgradation. That made me really sad.

Nonetheless, I loved visiting here. Jai Mata Di!

The sacred Shaktipeeth is located in a very remote location at the top of the hill. The temple is quite peaceful and there is no waiting for a visit. You can buy flowers and other Shringar items from the single shop there.

Ancient temple- ishtadevi of the Jayantia kings- the Jayanti temple is a Shaktipeeth of the Mother Goddess - a place where here left thigh fell.
The temple sits atop a hill overlooking the village of Nartiang.
The temple structure is simple and not much ornamented- simple Assam type structure. The premise is neat and clean.
Fanfare is held during the Durga Puja. Evidence of human sacrifice in olden days resonates from a well still used for animal sacrifice- to satiate the Goddess.
Gaurdian deity Bhairava temple is nearby.
The place resonates rich heritage of the erstwhile Jayantia Kings- who ruled the area.

This is Mata Jayantee Devi (Durga) temple. Among one of the 51 Shaktipeeth. Very few know this place in Meghalaya near a place known as Dawki. You will definitely feel blessed after mata darshan. Place, hills and greenery is amazing. Due to the monsoon season here, waterfalls are mind-blowing.

I felt lucky to be blessed by Ma Durga when I could visit the temple today i.e. on 13th March, 2024. I felt that one of my cherished dream of visiting the Jayanti Durga Temple come true. In fact the King Naranarayana was one of the most successful King among the Koch-Rajbongshi Dynasty of Assam, whose territory starts from Guwahati to present day Jalpaiguri.

A claim, devine, not so crowded and simple Shakti peeth within the mountains of Meghalaya. The temple is being renovated to accomodate better facilities. Unfortunately not many people know about the place, and the fact that if you really wish to sit for sometime and offer your prayers without being disturbed, this would be a great place.

There was some renovation work going on around temple. We visited 1st week August 2022. Some worker and locals are there only. We were only only ones to visit the temple.

We didn't see any Priest in the temple either, one Lady came to us to give us Prasad from the Mandir.

There were a few stray dogs around. No parking fee or entry. No queue to enter.

Its bit 6-7 Km from Dawki to Shillong Road. You can visit here. Its feeling of calmness and relax life here away from city life.

Hindu Shaktipith temple. Many development work going around the temple. It looks main temple structure were made of wood...concrete were used later. Beast sacrificed as a ritual during festival.

Unlike Durga temples, I have seen in West Bengal, here the architectural design/construction of the 'Mandir' (Temple) was completely different. The architecture is a blend of a temple and a pagoda.

Located amidst the serene Jaintia Hills this 500 years old Durga Temple is home to "Maa Jainteshwari" or "Jayanti" with "Kramadishwar" as her Bhairava. This is a very sacred place (Shaktipeeth) for Hindus as Devi Sati's "Chin" (Left Thigh) is believed to have fallen at Nartiang.

It is easily accessible if you can hire a cab from Shillong which may take you almost upto the entrance of the Durga Temple. The last few hundred meters of the road leading to this nice temple are not paved. The temple itself is small but beautiful.

The Shiva (Bhairava) Temple however might be a bit difficult to reach for the elderly or disabled as it is located higher up a steep slope, where a road is under construction.

Ever visiting Meghalaya, don't forget to visit and get the essence of "Shivshakti".

Readers there was never in this temple human sacrifice given to appease Goddess, if you come across such vague communication.

This is a very beautiful Durga Mata's shaktipeet, but due to being Christine in this area, there is no supervision and care of this temple. Please save this place

It was a very small temple when I visited it the last time. Right now a lot of infrastructure has been developed. It is a 600 year old temple and you can see the remains of an old cannon near the temple. The puja here is very different from mainstream Hinduism, it's a mix of Hindu and local Pnar traditions.

I took a scooter ride from Nongsder village in the Ribhoi district to visit this remotest temple, and it was surprisingly easy to find thanks to Google Maps since the locals weren't too comfortable with Hindi or English. The temple is nestled amidst lush green hills, and the cool breeze and clear blue skies made the experience quite refreshing.

What's unique about this place is the eerie but strangely soothing feeling it exudes. Stepping onto the temple grounds, it was like I left all my worries behind. I found a quiet spot and just watched the few visitors who came by. The best part? Unlike the crowded Shakti Pith temples where you barely get a glimpse of the goddess, here, you can spend as much time as you want with her.

Though, I'd recommend heading there early in the day and leaving early to make the most of this serene experience.

This Shakti peeth is really amazing, no one can imagine that any ancient hindu temple is here in Meghalaya where most of citizens are cristian. The priest is living there as 37th generation's priest over there. I would like to say it as most peaceful place.
