"This place lies across the Yamunā one mile north of Viśrāma-ghāṭa in Mathurā. It is Maharṣi Durvāsā’s place of austerities. It was from here that Durvāsā crossed the Yamunā on Dvādaśī and went to the palace of Ambarīṣa Mahārāja in Mathurā just when the king was due to break his Ekādaśī fast. This pastime has been narrated in detail in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Ninth Canto, Fourth Chapter). Just near the hermitage of Durvāsā was the āśrama of Maharṣi Parāśara. Śrī Vyāsa and other sages and saints would visit Maharṣi Parāśara there. Close by, on the bank of Yamunā, was the āśrama of Dattātreya. The mother of Śrī Vyāsadeva, Satyavatī (also known as Matsyagandhā), stayed here with her father, the boatman who had raised her. The island on which Kṛṣṇa-dvaipāyana Śrī Vedavyāsa took birth is nearby in the Yamunā. At Durvāsā Āśrama, the gopīs satisfied Maharṣi Durvāsā by offering him various kinds of delicious foodstuffs.
Today a large and magnificent temple has been built here that is unique in Vraja. This temple has deities of Maharṣi Durvāsā, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa and Śrī Yamunā-devī."

Excerpt from the book 'Sri Vraja-mandal Parikrama' by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja

Temple dedicated to Rishi Durvasa the Great sage who once cursed Lord Indra because he hurt his ego by putting the garland of divine Parijaat flower offered by Rishi Durvasa to Indra and Indra made his elephant Airavat wear that garland and that elephant trampled the garland with his feet. Because of this Indra was cursed and he lost all his glories and heaven and wealth and later Samundra Manthan or churning of the ocean took place and Indra could regain his lost glory. Rishi Durvasa also Cursed Rukmini Devi in Dwarka because of which she had to separate from Lord Krishna for several years.
During Mahabharata Rishi Durvasa along with other sages decided to visit Pandavas for meal while they were in exile and Draupadi had just one rice grain in the cooking pot. Upon remembering Lord Krishna, he appeared and ate that rice and Rishi Durvasa and other sages felt completely full and decided not to cone to Pandavas for meal. Such is the glory of sage Durvasa Maharishi. I offer my Pranam and obeisances in his lotus feet.
This temple is managed by Gaudiyas and best way to reach is to come at the banks of Yamuna at kansa kila in Mathura and cross the river in a boat for just 10 rs and after crossing the river just walk for half a km and have darshan in the temple. It is said Rishi Durvasa has never left the place from the time he started meditating here and Gopis used to worship and offer food to the Maharishi. Truly a peaceful place on top of a small hill and a must for devotees to have darshan. Jai Gurudev
