One of the amazing temple I have ever visited, we just encountered this temple 🛕 while travelling towards belum caves. This temple is situated at the penna river bank. Very calm and peaceful location and this temple is situated near tadipathri town of Andhrapradesh. The temple is not completely built it’s just half constructed, but the carving works are eye 👁 catching and it’s just wow 🤩. Plan your visit to this temple bit early since afternoons are extremely hot 🥵walking with your bare feet 🦶is bit painful. Early morning or evening are the best time to visit this temple. While entering the temple you will witness a huge Nandi statue at the entrance. Very small town plan your food arrangements while visiting this place. Only bakery’s are available at this vicinity.

Bugga Ramalingeswara Temple , on the outskirts of Tadipatri is a visual delight, a rich repository of Vijayanagara Art . The two massive doorways ( the walls of the Gopurams with the towers on top missing ) are masterpieces in Black granite, with sharp precisely chiseled sculptures which still look new. The attention to detail is stunning.
The temple was built in the 16th Century by a local Palegara serving Vijayanagar Kings. Situated on the bank of River Penna ( which is dry now)
This is a Must-Visit Monument for those who appreciate medieval temple architecture and art .

Being a very holy place , it attracts people from surrounding villages on festival times, but on other days , hardly any visitors.

(It was very disheartening to see the approach path to this grand temple kept in a very shabby condition, with garbage everywhere)

A rich heritage temple on the shore of river Penna.
The temple’s presiding deity is lord Mahadev. BUGGA in Telugu means spring of water. It is said that, water springs beneath the Lingam throughout the year, and the priest showers this holy water as Prouksham on the devotees.
And it is believed that lord Sri Rama has consecrated the Linga to worship Shiva Dev.

Kings of Vijayanagara contributed a lot for the temple. Unfortunately many beauty sculptures are destroyed today.
Rituals will be regularly in this temple but in Karthika Masam and on the holy day of Maha Shivaratri…. Huge rush of devotees we’ll be there. It will be a festival of the town on Shivaratri.

Must visit if you are in Tadipatri. Ancient temple with beautiful Architecture. History says that Lord Rama himself prayed to Shiva in this place after killing Tataka(a women). The name 'Bugga' came from the small pit under the Linga in temple which will be having water all the time. You can also experience some musical Pillars inside the temple which will sound like a hollow vessel eventhough they are carved from solid stone.

This was a fun temple that I thoroughly enjoyed. Amazing views during sunset. The lingam (god) sculpture in the central altar is illuminated by sunlight during sunset every day, through an opening in the temple wall just by the nandi (cow) sculpture. I thought it was pretty cool.

The carvings are very intricate and well preserved. Some of the carvings are... ahem... interesting lol. Quiet and peaceful place. The Penna river behind has pretty much dried up. You can see people playing cricket on it now.

Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy temple built between 1490 and 1509 during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire. The architecture is simply breathtaking and beautiful! It’s maintained pretty well but definitely more beautification work can be done so more people will visit and see the temple and it’s architecture

Dedicated to Lord Shiva , Bugga Rama Lingeshwara temple is one of the finest and most magnificent style of architecture belonging to Vijayanagara dynasty. On the bank of the River Penna , the temple complex has Goddesses Parvathi , Shri Rama temples too.
The masonry , design and drawings are absolutely wizardry. The entrance on East and South are imposing and equally awesome.
Best time to visit is during winter.
Happy Journey.

The temple is located on the banks of river Penna, Tadipatri. It was built by the Vijayanagara kings in the 15th century. Lord Shiva is swayambhu ( self originated). The temple has beautiful architecture. Our eyes are not enough to describe the beauty of mother goddess Rajarajeswari.

At a distance of 4 km from Tadipatri Railway Station, 58 km from Anantapur, 107 km from Kadapa, 357 km from Hyderabad, 413 km from Vijayawada and 269 km Bangalore, Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple is located on the banks of Penna River at Tadipatri in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the form of Ramalingeswara Swamy.

The temple got this name by a perennial underground stream from which water always keeps flowing (Bugga in Telugu) into the sanctum sanctorum at the spot where the Lingam is consecrated. Sri Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple was built by Ramalinga Nayudu, a chieftain of the Vijayanagara Kings, in 16th century. The records indicate that a sculptor Yellanchari was brought from Benaras to construct the temple. According to legend, the temple has been established at the site, where sage Parasurama lived and performed meditation.

The architecture of the temple shows a mixture of Chalukyan, Chola and Vijayanagar art. The temple has main entrances on South and West. The Vijayanagar kings have built the western, northern and southern gopurams of the temple. The north gopuram although unfinished has the most elaborate sculpture, with intricate carvings. The entire Shiva Purana is carved on the walls of the temple in miniature carvings with elaborate details. Episodes from Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are also carved on the walls. This temple has a mini stone chariot similar to the famous chariot of Vittala Temple in Hampi.

The Swayambhu Linga is placed on a pedestal in sanctum; water is seen flowing out of the pedestal all the time. This water is treated as holy water by the devotees. At the river side of the temple there is a statue of goddess standing by steps. It is believed that when the water level of the river Penna reaches the navel point of that statue, the entire town Tadipatri will be sinking in the water and that leads to the end of the town.

The car festival is celebrated annually on Shivaratri day during February / March. Sri Ramanavami is also another major festival here.

It's an architecture Marvel. Very beautiful temple located on the bank of Penna river in tadipatri. It's an old temple built during Vijaya Nagar Dynasty era. As per the history, the temple construction was incomplete and one of the gopuram build only half part, yet the beauty of sculptures in the temple are majestic. there is also another world famous temple know as chintala venkataramana temple. Both these temples are architecture Marvels. Everyone should see these temples.

Built during 15/16th Century by Ramalinga Nayudu, a Pemmasani Nayaka Chieftain of the Vijayanagara Empire, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The presiding diety is a Linga that's believed to have originated naturally (Swayambhu). This temple contains relief structures illustrating episodes from Ramayana and Mahabharata, more or less similar to that of another nearby ancient temple, namely, Chintala Venkataramana Temple. A visitor needs to spend at least a day in each of the above temples to appreciate the architectural splendour. This temple has seven pillars that, when struck, produce the seven musical notes or Saptaswara.

This temple is located nearly 4 km from Tadipatri Railway station and bus station. Being not so big a town, Tadipatri has moderate
Lodging facilities based on my limited experience. A 1500 rupee tariff per night gets one an air-conditioned room for a couple. Some lodges have a 11a.m. check-out so better to ascertain the timings before an accommodation is availed.

Private transportation is by three wheelers that are easily available and hassle free.

A visit to this town for worship in the above mentioned two temples is worth and satisfying. Mostly dry weather prevails in this region but better to check on the weather before venturing out.
