Mati Tirtha

State Agriculture Department has initiated steps to ensure round-the-year training programmes for farmers at Mati Tirtha, located in the district of Purba Bardhaman.

The requirement for year-round training was felt to ensure that farmers keep getting regular updates on agricultural activities, including on the latest techniques, and are able to implement the same.

A team of senior officials from the Agriculture Department had visited Mati Tirtha on June 13 and prepared a detailed report on the sort of infrastructure required for round-the-year training of farmers.

Mati Tirtha is the permanent venue of Mati Utsav that takes place in January every year where, among other activities, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee felicitates successful farmers from different parts of the State.

It's the place where the famous Mati Utsav is held. This is a fantastic project. They display various kind of agricultural products, farming tools, traditional objects from different districts and many more things. The location is a perfect choice for this project. It is far from the urban area and the environment is clean & pure.

Actual name of this place is mati tirtha o krishi katha. It is a Bengal Govt initiative for whole hearted development of farming communities. There are several programs year round at this place but most famous is Mati Utsav usually held on Dec-January and most of the time being inaugurated by hon. chief minister of West bengal. Mati mela is becoming one of the great fair of Bengal pulling lakhs of visitors. It is a great opportunity to the civilians to have official and minister at a close homely atmosphere.
