This is a must visit place when you plan for Pithoragarh. This place has a cave which is dedicated to lord Shiva. The cave is made from a single rock and taking cell phone is not allowed. One priest takes you inside the cave along with a group and tells the complete details of it.
This is a must once in a lifetime visit.
Suggested to go there during winters as the number of tourists is low. During summers it is very much crowded, also avoid going during monsoons

An awesome experience for a claustrophobic person like me, it was kind of a challenge I took to fight my inner demon to reach this place, i.e., claustrophobia ! Since the place is started from a very narrow rock formation and needs to go straight deeper, it somehow requires physical fitness and to some extent mental strength to reach here. But once you manage to reach, you will be mesmerized with the reminiscence of the great Hindu mythology. DO VISIT HERE IF YOU CAN!

Beautiful place and wonder of nature. You climb down around 90 feet thru a very narrow channel. Inside there is very big cave with different more caves inside. Unfortunately inside photography is not allowed.

Inside the cave you will get surprising and spectacular view of long hairs of Shankar. Kaliyug indicator 33koti dev, a Shivling, Sheshnag balancing earth, takshak and wasuli serpents, Pandav and Vyas caves and much more. Every thing is related with spiritual and religious stories. Shri Adi Shankaracharya found this cave and bring in light for people. It is said that there are tunnels to Chardham, Kailash caves within the cave.

Worth visiting provided you are physically fit as there is a problem of Oxygen inside the cave.
In the premises there some very ancient temple od Budha Pataleshwar, Chamunda godess etc.

Great place to visit but please don’t visit during whole rainy season as there is no oxygen inside the cave and you can’t see 10% of the cave properly

An out of the world experience and a mystical place! We visited this temple recently on our trip to Kainchidham, as the driver who rode the car we booked, suggested this temple as a must visit. He told the story of foreigner (one of Maharajji’s devotee) had recently visited with the intent to discover a new place and had initially planned to be there only for a day. But after visiting the place he stayed there 3-4 days more than he intended. This story intrigued us and we decided to take the trip. When we entered the mountain territory of the temple the vibes shifted, they were intensely peaceful and the nature was calm. The temple itself too is very powerful and we felt immense spiritual energies. A must visit for those seeking a unique experience that can’t be expressed in any reviews or words but felt for own!

Patal Bhuwaneshwar is a cave temple of Shiva. The temple is amazing with underground cave and there are guides available (charge is 100/- and it's included with the temple ticket) who explain everything.
Temple is walkable distance from the road, and there are restaurants near the main gate.

Mobiles are not allowed inside the temple.
Entrance and exit are quite narrow,so if you're claustrophobic I would suggest you not to visit.

Absolutely different temple, ilone has to go vertically down the cave with the help of chains and on reaching 90ft depth there are different sculptures of Gods and Goddesses and other sculptures with different concept. It is said that the tunnel meets Kedarnath, Mathura and many more places. One must visit it and especially during winters because in summers there is some oxygen problem but it is true heaven and adventurous.

Never... Never.... NEVER.... never ever I have witnessed such a SPIRITUAL DELIGHT, such a MENTAL PEACE, such a close affinity with NATURE and RELIGION....here I am just a CHILD waiting for my SESHNAG to complete my SPIRITUAL JOURNEY....and then that Auspicious Moment occur.....No, no, I am not King Rituparna or Jagatguru Adi Shankaracharya, the two men responsible for this ETHERIAL discovery...
but , so what ??? My spiritual journey is of no less important.... believe me, that CAVE TEMPLE.....PATAL BHUBANESWAR...the abode of 33 Crore Gods and Demigods according to Hindu Mythology, the most prominent one is Devadidev MAHADEV...is existing only for YOU...to make you realise, there is a bigger and greater world awaiting for YOU....a world full of GODS and DEMIGODS....a world full of Soul Searching and Self Sacrificing...a world full of Faith and Wish Fulfilment. Religion apart, the Stalactite and Stalagmite formations of Patal Bhubaneswar are unique... masterpieces of their class...so, whoever you are...historian, archeologist, beauty seeker or pure religio- franatic....if you Miss a visit to PATAL BHUBANESWAR....you are missing your SOUL itself.
N.B. ..... Photography and Videography is strictly restricted. And probably it is for good..some mysteries must not be resolved... that's the charm of life.

Great spiritual experience at this cave temple.
The guide who went inside with us was awesome, explaining everything in detail.
While entering, I was wondering how will I descend this cave without falling down, but everything happened smoothly!
Must visit.

Right off the bat if your not even spiritual or an aethist it's still a must visit it's in a beautifully scenic area and the insides of the cave are nothing like anything I had visited before ( have not visit many caves in general tho) if your a devotee or religious its a experience not to be missed just get there early as there is a lot of crowd.

Amazing cave structures depicting mythology. Photography is banned inside the cave. Bit difficult to enter but once inside it’s wonderful.
