Here in Lakhamandal we can find ancient remains of lots of temples. It is an ancient Hindu temple complex, situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is popular among the Shaktism, who believe that a visit to this temple shrine will end their misfortunes. Lakhamandal gets its name from the two words: lakha (Lakh) meaning "many" and mandals meaning "temples" or "lingam" Twin statues of Danav and Manav are located beside the main shrine. The statues are its dwarpals (doormen). Some people believe these statues to be those of Pandava brothers Bhima and Arjuna. They also resemble Jai and Vijay, the doormen of Lord Vishnu.

A visit to Lakhamandal in Jaunsar-Bawar (Uttarakhand) is an unforgettable experience, not only because of its beauty and quaint, old world charm, but also because of the region's most unusual customs and social norms. This is a region where the practices of polygamy and polyandry still persist, though they are on the wane. The rich practice polygamy and the poor polyandry, obviously for economic reasons. The practitioners of polyandry in the lower Jaunsar belt claim descent from the Pandavas, the five sons of Pandu, who were all married to Draupadi. The inhabitants of the higher reaches of the Bawar, claim descent from the Kauravas. The house of wax, in which the Kauravas sought to immolate the Pandavas, is supposed to have been built in Lakhwar in Jaunsar, although there are other claimants for this honour.
