The institute was established by the International Institute of Information Technology University Act, 2013 of the Government of Chhattisgarh, is a joint venture of Government of Chhattisgarh and NTPC
IIIT-NR currently runs two undergraduate programmes: B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE).
institute has a highly-qualified and motivated team of academicians from Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, English, Management Science and Humanities.
The area of the institute campus is 50 acres. The vibrant lush green campus of IIIT-NR is enabled with Wi-Fi connectivity, excellent amenities for sports and other recreational activities
The classrooms and laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for teaching and learning.
Fostering entrepreneurship is one of the primary objectives of the institute.
Admission to the undergraduate programmes of the DSPM IIIT-NR is based strictly on the merit of the candidates as per their performance in JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The minimum eligibility for applying for the B.Tech. programmes at IIIT-NR is 10+2 pass with 50% aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics (45% for SC/ST candidates).

It's has been established by the contribution of Chhattisgarh Government and NTPC , One of the dream project of Dr. Raman Singh, It's named Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur mentored by IIIT-Banglore, The culture is very research oriented and the campus is very well maintained by the administration and students as well students are encouraged to do whatever they want to do like there are supports available for students planning entrepreneurship, students studying for GRE, GATE, management.
The hostel are one of the best in India, they are newly build and maintained regularly, food is also quite well for that far location, The institute opens at 9 but people can be seen following fitness before Sun rises.

IIITNR is easily accessible from the BRTS buses available from Railway Station Raipur, Ghadi Chauk, and Telibandha, also there are local buses going to and fro. The campus is guarded by security 24*7 and every one need to check at the Exit gate of both entry and exit. Also it has incampus activity till 12 and you can return to the campus before 10 in the night with the permission of caretaker, Although it's not advisable to stay out of campus after 10 as the Streets lights are Off @ 9pm it's not safe to be lonely outside.

The Academics here mainly focuses on Computer Science domain, From the first year onward the curriculum involves programming, and logic designing, unlike other institutions where students have to study Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Graphics and what not unnecessary subjects, There are fully operational labs, very supporting lab staff, and also administration tries to solve as many problems as possible preserving the future goals, ethics and vision of the Institution.

A Quality Institute even though not much old, but the courses offered, workshops, chances to explore are amazing.
