The existing maidam (vault) which lies on the south bank of River Tocklai on the northern side of Jorhat town is of the last Ahom king, Purandar Sinha, who expired on 1 October 1848. The present maidam was constructed to preserve the ashes of the last Ahom King Purandar Singha with a beautiful pond.

A place very near to my house. A historical place which was neglected until recently mantainnance was taken over by CRPF and then onwards the park was taken a new ambience. A must visit with family members. You won't be disappointed. I hope the park stays this way forever. A true landmark of the area.
