This is place where Shri Pingali Vengaiyah gave our national flag to Mahatma Gandhi. The government archeological museum is in the same campus. Entrance fees Rs.50. Only ground floor and first floor with limited collections.
Some shops are there in the campus for dress , handcrafts purchase

I visited Bapu museum (Vijayawada) on weekends. It remains open only till 5 (that's why I couldn't go in the main building). The old , but well-maintained building welcomed me. There are sculptures and hieroglyphics in the garden overseeing the museum. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming. The place was spick-and-span.

This place is called bapu museum because in 1921 Mahatma Gandhi visited this place to receive the national flag which was designed by Sri pingali venkayya. The Bapu museum has many prehistoric artifacts that date back to 10,000 BCE and beyond. This place also has many religious idols (Hindu ,Buddha and Jain idols)which were found near Prakasam , Krishna and guntur districts. This place also has the ancient bidari artworks and china ware and ancient coins.

It was an amazing experience and worth every penny. Museum is well maintained and it has a large collection of ancient sculptures. Everything is well described and you got to know about the history of our National flag and its inception. The museum has large collection of paintings and artifacts of Buddhist and Hindu relics.
They have charged Rs.50 entry fees for adult.

Entry Ticket: Rs 50 per person.
It's a two storey museum, Ground floor consists everything of Buddha's Reigns followed by the weapons and pottery used by early man. The second floor consists of textile gallery, soldier's gallery.
Overall, it was an awesome experience.

Colonial architecture that has been maintained well has a charm of its own. The exhibits are really awesome. They have artefacts from the paleolithic age, too. Shows how rich the region has been since ages. The large 1st century Buddha statue was GORGEOUS.

Even the labelling is pretty good for a more obscure museum.

This museum was inaugurated in 2019. Small but good one for the students and citizens. Almost covers most of the era of history.

Loved this place. This place has a handloom exhibition. They offers products from Uttar Pradesh under one district one product policy. The quality of these handlooms is quite good.

This museum was earlier called Victoria museum. Now referred as Bapu museum.
Main museum building now houses marble mural sculptures of Gandhi, Pingali Venkayya and other freedom fighters.
New building has two stories with several galleries containing religious idols, prehistoric arms, ammunition, etc.

This historic place is where the Indian National Flag was approved by Gandhiji, designed by Pingali Venkayya. This place ought to be developed more than a mere museum.

(Visited in January 2021) -

I wanted to visit this since a long time! Bapu Museum, formerly called Victoria Jubilee Museum, located on Bandar Road, is a wonderful and underrated museum! The museum possesses the historical Central hall, where Sri Pingali Venkaiah garu presented the National Flag to Mahatma Gandhiji. The museum also has many Sculptures (Jaina/Buddha & Hindu), Paintings, Weapons belonging to various eras. It is a must visit place. The Photography fees of ₹ 200 seems to be too high though. The lastest applications of IT & Virtual museum concept is pretty impressive.

The museum was created as part of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.
The foundation stone was laid by Robert Sewell, District Collector of Krishna district, on 27 June 1887.
Sri Pingali Venkayya presented a tri-colour flag to Mahatma Gandhi at this location in 1921.
The building initially housed industrial exhibitions.
It was converted to an archaeological museum under the auspices of the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in 1962.
