The Gateway Hotel Calicut

Unforgettable stay!!! Taj staff always try their best to make your stay comfortable full with memories!!!! Rooms are super spacious and comfortable with spiv and span washrooms....we felt overwhelmed with their customised welcome card and welcome cookies are really good!!! Breakfast buffet was amazing. Staff always made sure that everything served to you from live counter should be of your taste. The smile with which they served is exceptional... House keeping staff is nice either...you can enjoy your meals with beautiful view of swimming pool outside... Had nice experience at ayurveda centre as well...overall stay was so nice, really had a great time at The Gateway hotel.

A serene and tranquil atmosphere in the hotel is worth mentioning. Rooms are spacious and well maintained offering the luxury expected by everyone. The hospitality of the staff is quite commendable. A special thanks be to Mr.Sanjay, the Front Office Manager who was kind enough to ensure that we have a very comfortable stay here. We have always enjoyed the privilege of being a part of Taj across the nation. We wish blessings of the Almighty upon the entire team working behind the success of the hotel offering valuable service to all the guest. The only surprise was why Taj failed to acknowledge the special event (31st wedding anniversary) for which we booked the room here with a special mention of the purpose at the time of room reservation. In all other Taj hotels where we stayed for our birthdays and anniversaries we had the privilege to receive a surprise cake in our room which really meant a lot to us. Please do not take it as a complaint but consider it a suggestion or reminder to serve your guests better in future.

Excellent and pleasant stay in Taj Gateway. Food was really good and tasty. You will get more variety of foods in Breakfast/ Dinner. Highly recommended.

Nothing special to mention as bad.

Amenities including the covered parking (valet parking), swimming pool, steam bath, gym, TT indoor board etc are great.
Location also is great as Freedom square beach is just 600m walkable.
Staffs are very helpful and committed.

Breakfast covers most of the common cuisine.

Value for money.

Ofcourse different yet a heritage model indeed,but one would never feel that you are in the heart of calicut..it's a slient hub with amazing food varities..breakfast is super healthy and the slience of the place goes in hand with the ancient look and feel of the building. This old school hospitality hub,is calm n undistrubing ,unlike any other swarming city hotel.

Looks old from outside, but well maintained. Great location. Humble courteous staff.

Best hotel in calicut but the beach is very fare from the hotel cab and auto available cheaper rate to the town and airport

Our entire famioy checked in on the 12th and we were there till 15th of July. The rooms are cozy - and homely. Service is excellent. And the warmth of the staff makes you feel at home. At the dinning facility, the Taj Staff called Ms Blessina was very very good. F & B Manager packed santwiches and fruit for our onward journey while we were checking out. Next time I go to Calicut I will stay at the Taj Gateway

We went for Dinner and we opted a la carte
Dinner. Servings were good and food really tasty. Veg kebabs, fish fingers, chicken fries, fish curry etc were really 👌. Veg soups were nice. Overall experience was excellent.

The rooms and service were excellent.

It is around 2.6km from new Calicut busstand
And 31km from the Calicut international airport it takes around an 1hr to 1.30min

Very close to beach. This property by taj is very good for couples, solo, business travel. Campus is big with swimming pool & fitness centre. Rooms are alsl very spacious.

Our stay was very comfortable. Location is good and just 10 mins walk from the beach.
The staff were helpful and the service was great. Arjun the manager did everything possible to make our stay memorable. Thank you !!

My wife, son and I stayed there last week for three days. It’s a beautiful property (a bit jaded - but will be renovated in the near future), located very close to the beach.
We had a comfortable stay - the positives being friendly, attentive staff, a comfortable room and a decent buffet for breakfast.
Would definitely want to stay there again.

Not a nice stay, was being a part of group having huge logistics the hotel is not capable of handling. The rooms are old and creaky with non ventilated wash rooms that become an issue when staying for long. No staffs to help with luggage at night.

Located near the Beach. Swimming Pool is large and very well maintained. Restaurant with pool view is amazing. Their Fresh Juices are awesome too.

We visited this property in April for our anniversary and loved the hospitality we received there, food was great, had lovely in room dining experience aswell as the breakfast buffet was good!
Staff was so friendly and helpful and they gave pretty good advice about places to see around!

Rooms are not soundproof, and rain sound on the metal sheets nearby disturbed me the whole night. Pretty old Hotel was leaking from the roof in reception / lobby area. I believe they are taking it over and making it into Vivanta soon, which will.be very good. It is walking distance from the beach, so I would always prefer to stay here
