Irrawadi Dolphin Sighting Place

Best time for dolphin spotting is before 9am and by government boat as they are quite (use petrol motors). Private boats use diesel motors and are very noisy and also they charge you extra for the boat than the government boats. Government boats booking can be done at OTDC Satpada hotel reception.

Enjoyed very well. We took a boating of Rs1500 for 3 hour time at 230 pm. First we were taken to rajahans island and then half hour spending there and can sea from the other side. After that to irravadi dolphin sighting point. We saw more.than 10 12 dolphins jumping jumping and was very difficult to catch a snap. Still managed somehow. Worth to have a boat ride for this.
Tickets can be brought from the satapada counter. Before 5 -7 kmreaching satapada fraud people will.misguide and try to take to some other pont saying that is original boating point. But don't get to the frauds.

Must go place..we were lucky that we have seen DOLPHINS and enjoyed with SEGLES (bird).

Please take popcorn for SEGLES but don't take dolphin food as the shop keeper fools you by saying this..

Secondly make sure that you have enough drinking water along with wafours as it takes 04 hours for chillika lake, then to RED CRAB island, then one more beach and come so total time will take around 4 hours..

And before you reach please give food order to the restaurant also there is a policy which I have heard that "for chillika lake if you won't get the opportunity to see dolphins then they will return your money"..It's by government..

Nice lifetime experience for nature lovers. It's based out at world 2nd biggest brackish water lagoon _ chilika lake where migrated birds, dolphins live and maintain a wonderful ecosystem.

Fantastic place to enjoy,there are a number of small islands in the Chilika lake.If you want to explore completely you will need one full day(try living in nearby hotels like PANTHA NIVAS).You can hire different types of boat to explore and if lucky you will spot many Irrawaddy dolphin.There is also a nearby museum.Overall it was a great experience

Chilika lake, Satpada, Oddisha

Spread over an area of over 1000 sq. km, this brackish water lagoon is famous for sighting wild Dolphins, Red crabs, sea shells and of course the boat ride!
Located at the mouth of Daya river, flowing into Bay of Bengal, the boat rides are organized from Satpada. Managed by the local fisherman, there are 2 different tour package available, tour 1 for INR 3700 for 3 hours and tour 2 for 4 hours for INR 4200.

Success Mantra for Dolphin watching "Earlier is better". Have patience and remember these dolphins are not from TV channels or dolphinarium. They don't jump in to air and do acrobatics for you. These wild, shy, endangered dolphins with indistinct beaks are grey to dark slate blue, paler underneath, with no distinctive pattern. The boatman attempt to grasp the attention of the dolphins through efforts such as striking their bamboo paddles to the surface of the water or making calls and yes, sometimes these cooperative dolphins respond to them. Keep your eyes open, camera ready. They are all around you. If you are lucky enough then there you can see white bellied sea Eagles and other birds as well. What more you want? Enjoy!

Nice place to sight dolphins. But you need to be lucky to find dolphins. However boat trip around the Chilka lake is a nice experience. Make sure you pay as per tourism department rates which are displayed at Satapada. Beware of touts who may force you to pay exorbitant prices.

Must go through the boat ..Then stop the engine.. Remain there calm..Then surely you will find dolphin..And the view will be mesmerizing..

And prefer morning hours...

What a wonderful site this is. Worth visiting. Numerous dolphins wow. The very unique thing about this site is that there are these special Irrawadi Dolphins which are found no where else in the whole world. Amazed to be here.

Definitely a must visit place while touring in Puri . It's so beautiful but the water looks dangerous . Stay safe . But u will definitely spot dolphins playing around at a certain area which the boat-man will take u to . Stay there for 30-45mins and watch . Definitely need a better camera to capture but u can't capture whole beauty of it so just experience it . It was lovely . Highly recommended ❤

Take a boat ride from Satapada. Boatman will stop their engine at a good spot where dolphins can be seen. Be sure to see one or two.

Proper place for boating. Prefer OTDC restaurant, property restroom

Very well maintained park with a scleton of whale, situated on the bank of Chilka lake.

Please do not expect the Dolphins jumping out of the water as you see in the advertisements. But that does not mean that the boat ride on Chilika is not worth experiencing
